Default o ring question & valves

had to remove my compressor to replace an engine mount, in the process I lose one of the small green o rings that are on the in/out connections .. is a black o ring safe to use or do I need to use the special green ones .. where do you get them couldnt see any at supercheap / repco

also I did not slowly degas the system .. just took the inlet and outlet off then I got told by someone that a quick degass like this screws up some kind of valve somewhere in the system ( cant remember what one he said ) .... what vavle is it and where is it located??

Cool So you released the gass to atmosphere ???

So u dumped your gas to atmosphere??
Firstly that is illegal, and you are a dumb ass for doing it.... and then backing up your stupidity by telling everyone on a forum about it!
Secondly it is not neccessary to disconnect as you can undo the compressor mounts and leave the unit hanging by the hoses out of the way. You would have pulled oil out of your system now by degassing the way you have.
To get your system regassed now will require a new receiver/drier to be fitted before the system is vacced down and checked for leaks.
I am guessing that if you do not have the tooling to degass the system properly you would not have a vacuum pump either.
Do yourself a favour and take it to a qualified aircon tech to sort out properly!
Finally in answer to your question.... No, a normal black o ring will not do the job as it cannot handle the refrigerant oil.

Sounds like a costly exercise to replace one $30 engine mount.
