So the obvious question phreddy... will you be passing through victoria again?![]()
OK folks - after almost 2 1/2 years, I'm off to Adelaide again. I have had numerous nibbles over the past few months, I will try and dig those up and get back to each of those people. I anticipate getting on the way in a couple of weeks if the numbers are right.
However - it would help a lot to ease some of the organisational problems I have had if everyone can follow this procedure....
Send an e-mail to phreddy@asr-audio.com.au - place in the "Subject" field, the words "ADELAIDE ROADSHOW". In the body text, start off with your forum handle and the name of the forum (there are a couple of others I hang at these days as well...), and then a bit of a rundown on the work that you would like done and of course what model your car is.
Include also some details of your location - where you are in relation to the CBD ( 20Km North-East for example). Please bear in mind that for anyone who is a significant distance away from the city might be stung with some additional travel allowance fees. (nothing obscene though, you guys know I don't work like that...)
Now, on the subject of travel allowances.... The travel split will need to increase this time guys - sorry about that, but winter means a night or two in the car is definintely out - so I'll need to cover my accommodation costs. At the moment I estimate that the travel split will be around $70-75.
For anyone not familiar with the "travel split" concept, simply this - to get to where I have to be involves a full day's driving - about 14 hours from Sydney in fact. So the return journey means two full days of being completely unproductive - just driving. On that note, there's a bit of fuel which has to be burnt on a trip like that, so that has to be covered as well. While I'm there I don't need to be accommodated in five star luxury, but I do need somewhere to rinse off at the end of the long days they tend to be, and put my head down for a few hours. What that boils down to is some significant costs when it's all added up. So that's what I do - I basically make an estimate of what those costs will be, work up a total, and then divide that between all the customers I visit on the tour. In that way, no single person is paying any silly fees to get me there. In fact, even a $75 travel split is pretty reasonable - try and get even a local based fella to come to you for much less than that!!
As was the case with the recent Melbourne trip, I will need each customer to forward a deposit to confirm their booking. The reason is twofold - there have been occasions in past trips where people were all keen to go, but once I got to town they dropped out of all communication. Secondly, as most of you know ASR is still a "fledgling" operation, I don't have a huge budget behind me as yet. Before I embark on these trips I need to have all the stock I need - no good driving 1400Km and then not having any parts!By taking the travel split as a deposit this allows me to cover those expenses and actually get there.
So get those e-mails sent boys and girls - I'll be seeing you soon!

Oh, definitely Mate!! The sooner the better in fact. Not on this trip though, I need to get to SA and back - might do the big "round trip" sometime in the future when I can see my way clear to being away from home for a full couple of weeks. I will definitely be coming down to see you again soon though Mate, no hassle there. (I'll have some goodies to drop in an envelope for you soon too....)
Only a day since the announcement, but I haven't yet been exactly overwhelmed with interest from SA as yet.... Maybe the numbers will pick up in the next few days though.

How about looking after the ppl who has already contact ya.It seem you have more unhappy customer than happy one.
Hey Preddy, I got my the screens in my vt converted to led's which have shat themselves, how much to convert back to stock globes![]()
OK guys - if there are some who I haven't gotten back to, all I can do ia apologise - you can either accept that or not. I'm not losing any sleep over it.
I keep bleating on about this, but I am a busy bloke! I'm a one man show, and I hjave to spread myself pretty thin. I'd LOVE for things to take off sufficiently to employ someone to deal with initial enquiries, but I can't do that!! I'm flat out making ends meet as it is. All I can hope is to look after as many as I can to build this business up. Having you blokes going out of your way to publicly humiliate me, well I guess it must make you feel better or something....
If you want some work done, please send me a gentle reminder. If not, then leave this thread alone. If you want to post some threads about what a useless turd Phreddy is, then post it somewhere else in the ASR forum. Just try to keep in mind that I'm just one man, and only human.
I'm not some huge company with loads of employees standing around doing bugger-all - I try as best I can to keep everyone happy, sometimes that doesn't happen. But please don't go trying to make trouble for me - I need that now less than ever.

Oh, and by the way - ALL of my "customers" are happy. ("customer" defined as one of the many who have either had my dash conversion, stereo mods, full audio installs, or been supplied a kit to do the audio themselves - or a combination in several cases)
With the one possible exception of the bloke whose ambition outstripped his ability.... Bought a kit to install himself, screwed up the installation, smoked it, then expected a refund - sorry....

Jeez, I dunno Sig - it's against my principles to convert TO globes....
Seriously though, LEDs can be made to work OK - and they should never blow if they're installed properly...

guys before this blows up I think its best to say this
Greg has found himself in a situation where the demand has exceeded the supply. He is literally one bloke trying to do so many variations to various kits and I know theres a few of us who never thought he would make it interstate, let alone to so many states, so that tells ya something about the amouint of work he has to contend with.
He's identified an issue with getting back to customers as mentioned, which as noted on another topic is something I'm helping him to do now to try and cut down on the response times, which seems to be the biggest problem with potential customers, and the problem outlined here.
Greg is also working on a way to try and expand a little bit to make it easier on himself to get work done physically. Trust me, the blokes relying on this work to keep him and his family going and I know first hand it hurts to read a handful of people are unhappy.
I thought I would just let everyone know the "lack of response" issue has been dealt with as it was a huge and frustrating issue, and one that had to be resolved.
If anyone is seriously dissapointed with the lack of response unfortunately theres not much that can be done to reverse it now as we can only move forward.
