Hi, i've got a ve sv6 sedan that i'd like to just upgrade the factory speakers to some better ones for a bit more sound.
i don't need 50inch subs or anything just want a big more bass but mainly a nicer sound. how much installed what do you recommend?
gday,
at the moment theres not much in the way of VE audio but I do know greg is pressing forward with this sort of stuff, the audio will be the next thing he hits hard.
sorry I cant help you much more at the moment
What about Phreddy's JBL gear?
Something should fit eh??
yeh thats what I mean by he's about to hit it hard ... I think he made the announcement a little bit too early because hes now flat out with getting the other stuff off the ground and the JBL is another thing that needs serious attention when time permits.
Ahh ok, yeah I can imagine how busy he is with all the new products in the development stages, and plus all the 'normal' day to day work... I'm still waiting for an email off him, lol,
I must've read it quickly, or not payed enough attention to the wording.. lol, thought you ment that Phreddy didnt have anything for the VE's? my bad...
ahh I understand it could be percieved like that so Im also to blame
Yeh unfortunately he has access to all this wonderful stuff but needs time to set it up properly. Obviously he's focussing on getting the Bluetooth buttons and LED lighting kits all done, as well as clearing some of the backlog for dash lighting and modifications because thats starting to drag on now.
Back when he announced JBL life was pretty simple, he worked during the day and prepped boards during the night for weekend and after hours installs, so being able to source JBL gear wouldnt be an issue.
But now lifes changed as posted elsewhere and business is running at 200% capacity just on dash and LED mods alone, without adding all the new works in progress andother things.
Its something that can and will be done in the future, I spoke to him 2 weeks ago about it, but yeh its been put on hold at the moment to clear some of the current backlog.
Trust me, I want some JBL speakers for my car so Im in the same boat![]()
lol, ahh hopefully that'l be good for Greg, clean up the place a bit - (so to speak - finish off little bits here and there, easy to say but it probably takes hours upon hours of development and research, lol!)
That kinda works in well for me though?! Give me time to build the bank balance, as im also thinking seriously of n upgrade! speakers, lighting etc...
I think i'll have to organise something, down the track, when he has an arvo/evening free - (if ever) maybe have some drinks, and say g'day.. Its just going to be tricky working around his schedual, (that spelling doesnt look right for some reason? lol - ehh its late..) and my budget!
If you're reading this Phreddy - "Keep up the good work, and TRY not to work too hard mate!!" lol...
Hope you get it all sorted!
Torquative, has Greg developed an RCA-out conversion for the VE HU yet?
not too sure about VE, the problem has been finding donor cars. Obviously with most VE's still under warranty owners are hesitant to hand over their cars for something that "hasnt been tested" as such.
I havent heard about anything solid with the VE but I know he's dying to give it a shot to offer it on the VE range as well.
Next time Im talking to him I'll ask the question and get a definate answer as to where he's at, or where he's going with VE audio.
so nothing for the ve yet? maybe another few months?
i think from i was talking to him the main circuit boards in the ve units are similar to the vz units, so its kind of a generic stereo used that adapts to different cars etc,
i believe he has got a prototype in the making, but has come across a noise issue with the mod picking up an alternator whine,
as matt said, the sooner some ve owners front up to get some mods happening, the sooner products will get released.......

Full swing soon fellas, I promise - just some supply issues to deal with....

Cool, be sure to let us know Greg - I'm waiting for the big announcement!![]()
Phreddy, would i be able to call you to discuss just my simple speaker upgrade? i'm not sure i really need line out converters for massive amps etc. my requirements are fairly simple.
^^^ Probly be best to wait for the new JBL Gear to come out?? Get a newer speaker?
What do you rekon Matt?
hey monaro, if you are going to use an amplifier for your speakers which will make a difference in the clarity you will definately need a LOC. I am not a huge fan of the bass but my system invlolved removing center dash speaker then replacing tweeters and and all door speakers. For clarity get the crossovers for the front which come with the filter to send higher end sounds to the tweeters and lower ones to the doors.
Bassically the stock headunit wont have enough power to produce decent sounds with an audio upgrade as far as i know but can be wrong about that.
Cheers
EnFoRcEr - thanx for the input, but the LOC is not actually required. I have installed my RCA output mod into the VE head unit and it works quite nicely. The drive to amplifiers from LOCs is filthy by comparison to pre-amp outputs...
The only hassle at the moment is a very slight alternator noise issue, and a speaker thump problem, although that may be specific to one brand of amp. Looking into this as time allows....
