G'day all.
OK, I've had some nibbles from fellas in Northern Queensland to get some of my work done. It's a hell of a trip, but I'm giving it some serious thought!
Essentially the same as any of the other Roadshow destinations, if I can get enough interest the trip can go ahead! As I said, it's a BLOODY long trip - the normal "travel split" fees will be somewhat higher, plus for anyone requiring a "special trip" out of town and then back, you might be up for just a little more. On the other side of the coin though, you would be one of the VERY few in NQ to have these mods done! (up to this point there's no-one at all from up in that part of the country - someone might be in for the honour of being the FIRST in that area!!)
So let me know boys and girls - those from up around Townsville, Mackay, Rocky - if I can get the numbers, I'll be on my way.

Well if your feeling generous enough to make it the Brisbane/Gold Coast - I, alike many others off in SE QLD would be very excited!
Out of interest how much would I be looking at for a white conversion with blue needles, also whats the go with the bluetooth and ipod mod?
Cheers
Mate, PLEASE!!! come up !!!We'd love to meet ya and see ya work!!
There is no other people like you who make kick arse items!!
Imagine the profits
Mark -
Hey Greg, maybe if you have enough interest at places, then you can rent a $200 house for a week etc, where people can come to you?
Less travel, less $$ on accommodation, and you don't have to move all your stuff around as much.
We are so lucky to have you in Sydney![]()

Hey mate,
I'm still interested in all your stuff as well, just waiting for my funds to improve. I was just looking on ebay and came across this bloke that does mods to the vy/vz headunit as well. Are you working on something similar?
iPod interface: Holden VY/VZ GTO stereo/radio/CD player - eBay Other Car Audio, Video, Audio, Video, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 16-Sep-09 20:00:20 AEST)
Yeah Greg does that, I assume probably better too.
$330 with no fitting, wtf?

greg also takes pride in his work and wont release a car back to the customer until he's satisfied its 100%. If an hour job takes 3 hours until its perfect Greg will do it, and on the rare occasion something goes wrong he will work to fix it, or replace it.
Plus you can sit, watch, and ask questions about the whole process. Its worth Gregs mods, trust me, my car is full of them with more to come!
I can vouch for that, rarely do you find honest quality electrical engineers working on your car that you can watch, ask questions and annoy, whilst having heaps of coffees.
I have Greg booked in to to my stereo this week.![]()

you should come up mate theres money!!!!
G'day guys.
Great to see the interest from NQ, and for those in the more "Southern" parts of Queensland - defeintely fellas, no problem at all. What I anticipate is that I'd come up to Brisbane for - say - a couple of days, proceed North and look after some work up there, and then probably aim to do a few more on the way back South. (just to break the driving up a little...)
And I must extend my sincere thanks to the comments left by you guys..... The answer is simple - I'd get peeved off if someone did bodgey work on MY car, therefore I don't expect anyone else to be satisfied with anything I wouldn't be.
Anyhow, I'm back from Adelaide now, and will get the next roadshow planned as soon as the numbers come up.

Excellent! If interest continues to pick up like this, I could be there shortly!
Guys, I understand this is difficult with no price lists online yet. The web site is a work in progress, and the fella who does this for me is not only waiting on some input from me, he's just recently had a new baby.... Needless to say, he's not a lot of time up his sleeve lately.Unfortunately I'm having to concentrate most on getting daily expenses covered, and have to spread myself a little thin....
However... For "ball-park" figures, refer below...
Lighting conversion for VY/VZ:
For a "basic model" (Exec, S, SV6, Acclaim, etc...) around $260-280
For an "upmarket" (SS, Calais, HSV) around $320-350
This covers a COMPETE conversion - final price depends on transmission type, and whether the standard stereo needs to be done. (a little cheaper if aftermarket radio is fitted)
Lighting for VEs is around the same, although there's a little more variability in model designations - different types of screens, and so on...
For the Blaupunkt stereo modifications, as follows...
RCA ouput only (4 channel true pre-outs) - $155
Aux Input only (includes factory styled activation switch) - $190
"Combo" (both of the above) - $275
Those are the fully installed prices, by the way.
So there you go guys.... Naturally each job is quoted separately, but that should give you a general idea.
Now, travel split..... I take the point that the Northern parts of Qld are a bloody long way up!! I have found lately that even the more "conventional" destinations (Melbourne, Brissy, Adelaide...) are costing me a bit in accommodation.... Skooby - your idea is a good one, as were those we spoke about yesterday when working on your stereo. I think though that a "fixed base" won't really work in this case, as there's a bit of a pread between the towns up there... On-site caravans are probably worth a thort or two though... However, as far as travel fees go - obviously the futher up you are the more it will be, but I'll make sure I keep that at sensible levels. I would anticipate that for Brisbane / Gold Coast, somewhere around $80-ish. For the extreme Notherners, possibly double that. For those in between, somewhere in between!Just take into account guys, that it's not only fuel, food, and somewhere to rest - it's the time as well. Even for Brisbane I have to use up a full day essentially in travelling, when I can't be making a buck elsewhere...
So that should help put things into a picture there.... Keep up the interest guys, as soon as the numbers are right I'll do my best to get up there!![]()

I'm just an email or call away, was actually thinking about the webby this morning.
I normally don't sleep Sunday and Monday nights (thanks to the little one) and that'd be a perfect time to get cracking!
Like I said to you last time, I'm very keen to see ASR grow & prosper!
well get cracking coz theres a common theme of people wanting to know prices![]()
I have been supplying rough prices via PM
Greg give Richie the damn info so he can upload it ;P
thats cool, Im finding people want a price which is fair enough and Ive been battling with no info at all either because I cant "do my job" of giving prices if I dont know them myself.
People are starting to see the work Greg can do and they think it looks fantastic and want it done to their own car, which is the whole idea, BUT at what cost? $50, $500?? Somewhere in the middle, more or less?? And how long can someone expect to be told "dont have a price" before they just spend their money on something else.
Its like going into KFC or Maccas for lunch knowing exactly what you want and they say "oh cant tell you how much it costs because we pulled the old price boards down 6 months ago and havent got around to updating them", except in this scenareo you can go to another lunch place, but with this you sort of cant as its only one bloke who does it.
Yes, Im also recieving and dealing with the complaint PM's as part of "doing my job" so Greg doesnt have too and it is becoming frustrating that my PM box is becomg cluttered with dissapointed people, so perhaps now Im just passing on some of that frustrationIve been good til now in not making a fuss of it.
no bight coz we're mates here (you know that), just passing on what potential customers are telling me, at the moment its a lack of pricing on an otherwise good and recourceful website.
Greg is aware of other issues but that comes down to a lack of finance to have boards and components pre manufactured, something else we're working towards.
also I would discuss this privately but this way the customers can see we're trying to get things moving and that their concerns are being passed on![]()
No removal at all guys - as you pointed out Matt, it's good for customers - past, current, and potential - to see that we ARE doing a lot behind the scenes to get this moving.
And I'll take this opportunity to very publicly and very LARGELY thank Matt and Richie here.... These guys give of their own time to assist me with this venture. As the business proprietor, design engineer, stock controller, assembly and test technician, and install technician - oh, and then finding a little slice of time to be a family man as well, I have to "spread myself thin" (that cliche is approaching over-use right now...) You fellas deserve a round of applause, 'coz that lets me get on with the stuff to actually earn a buck or two. When things do grow sufficiently, you guys are first in the door.
Now, to the point of the thread....
Stunning interest now, after a short period of silence...However, I reckon I might post in the other forums I attend to let them know as well to hopefully build the numbers. If anyone who reads this is a Pro-utes member, please feel free to let the boys there know.... I intend to sign up with those guys soon, but I haven't as yet.
As is usually the case with getting the roadshow plans formally in motion, this will be the same setup with sending and email to me to get underway. In the next day or so I'll post an instruction on how to get this happening.
