Sandpaper and a LOT of patience and care.

Now, having said that - I would like discussions on our techniques to CEASE please. OK, everyone is entitled to have a go - but Ant and myself have out a LOT of time into developing these techniques - and given that I'm just about to disappear down the plug-hole AGAIN, I would prefer if our little "secrets" are kept somewhat under wraps. I'm sure if you went to any number of other businesses and asked them "how do I do it myself?" they wouldn't tell you - they need to make a dollar or two - well so do I - now more than ever.

    no problem.

is it something you and Ant supply as a service (the cleaning up the filtering) at the moment? if so i'll buy it.

or are you in need of guinee pigs? if you need one...--> *puts hand up*

Indeed we could, if you're not confident to go ahead with it yourself.

One thing I have in progress at the moment is to organise with a printing company to process a replacement mask - printed in the same way as the original, just eliminating the green ink part. Obviously that will give better results with far less time and trouble, but I need to balance costs. If it ends up being prohibitively expensive, we'll probably stick with the "sandpaper and patience" approach....

(sorry about the rant before - a bit stressed at the moment...)

i thought so 4 a min thought i was about 2 learn somthing new in these models haha always learning none stop here but since u bought this up about the heater controls man coz urs is climate as said many times in threads, (even in Gregs 1st post)

"Note too those with the electronic climate control module.... Results with these might be a bit odd, as the buttons themselves have heavy filtering moulded into them which can't be removed - another work in progress, so guinea pigs are welcome..."

    Heh - thanks Ant....

Hey, I should be a bit more observant too... I didn't spot that it was a Calais.

I'm working on a climate control at the moment from a VX, results soon I hope.

Yeah Slick - although it seems that the only option we're gonna have there is blue....

Because blue LEDs only emit light from the blue spectrum, that seems to be able to sufficiently "punch" through the green filtering layer. White obviously won't work at all (it's just gonna end up a brighter green...), and I've done some experiments with red LEDs - the wavelength of red light though makes it almost impossible to get through a green filter. It does, but REALLY dim - it would take a large number of VERY bright LEDs to be viable, and even then results might not be all that flash...

The OTHER thing that could be done of course, is for me to chat to my laser engraver man, sand back all the buttons so as to get through the green laer, re-spray the button caps, and have them re-engraved. I'll tell you now fellas, that'll cost a FORTUNE. I'd be looking at least $70-80 just to get the engraving done - let alone all the other work required....

Anyhow, still in progress on the CC unit, results as they happen.

Default VX Berlina - in Brisbane?

Phreddy - my climate control cluster lights have died, so next time you're in Brisbane I look forward to the full LED treatment

Now since the climate control cluster is different to the buttons - I wonder if it could be done in RED, to match the red output of my Eclipse AVN-2210?

Thanks for the reply Phreddy.. Yeah i spoke to Ant about it also, he is wild at it like you all have been. Blue would look good - anything other then green is. But something similar to my clusters would look totally sick. I'd change all my buttons switches to white in a blitz if the climate buttons could light up white. But keep trip and climate screen blue.

Trust me to select white when it's the one colour that wont penetrate the green.

Anyway i'll wait and what ever you guys come up with i'll be happy with.
