vt cluster change(help)

ok guys and girls,i have changed or going to change my cluster in my vt from a single window to a 3 window,now the kms on my cluster are and i hate to say it but 240000,and the cluster i have is 91000,now can someone change the kms to the new cluster to my original kms for rego reasons and does it matter that the cluster is from a vx v6 when i have a vt 5.0,will it effect the working order of the new cluster....help needed....cheers jason....

and is 50 bucks a good price for the 3 window cluster.......

$50 is a good price assuming nothing is wrong with the cluster, I have a feeling the tacho will need to be adjusted and from my experience changing clusters cause air bag lights to go off which only holden can reset does the new cluster have gear select lights on it? If so I tihnk you'll also need to have the computer in the car updated in order for the lights to show up..

all seems fine so far after i finished installing it,everything works right,the only thing is the kms are wrong and ive noticed one of my headlight is dimming,not a bright as the other but it could be from the mod i did under the steering coloum cause i fitted aftermarket monaro light in the front and had to do the wire mod being that the high beams only worked but now thinking of it, i would think both would do it if it was the wire,maybe it is the cluster,so im guess just to swap back over and see if it still happens....

check that u made good connections wen u did the stalk mod as the wires u do mod r grounding wires thats just been swapped around and added.

The KM can be copied from the old cluster to the replacement one....

It does require that I have access to both clusters though - if you're in the Sydney area then we can maybe work something out.

Hey phreddy, i need something similar done. Im upgrading my cluster in my VXII from single window to a VT series 1 cluster (3 window). Car has 220,000kms and cluster has 250,000kms. Can you PM me with a price on what you'd charge to:

Match up the ODO's
reprogram the ODO to suit my car (airbag config, trac control, etc)
and do a LED conversion on the cluster

Also, when you will be in Melbourne next so we can do this

thanks phreddy,you know me well as i did tyres on you car at bob jane mt druitt,so im not far from you ...pm me a price and time to do it as i has the old cluster on hand,one thing i have noticed is that the rev needle is out of wack and the klm but thats about it...everything else in regards to screens seem ok...figured out that the light problem was because the fuse had blowen on one side....idiot me....

Ah - no probs Mate!

The tacho is most probably just the division ratio (V6 or V8) which is easy, just a Tech2 config setting.

As for the odo transfer, should be no hassle. It's a bit of a mess-around, but quite do-able.

I have just changed mine three times now

Having said that i own an 01 VX 'S' Manual (Single window cluster)
I had originaly changed my cluster as i had a fault with original one (kept going stupid)
so i put a vx v6 auto one in it with the single window works no problems
never had a drama with it (And for convenience was only 3k kms more than my original one.


Then i decided i wanted a three window one and my car being manual i couldnt find one
so i have had to get an auto one again
(I can deal with the numbers in the dash as they dont light up anyway)
So i managed to get hold of a HSV Clubsport one and a VT V6 Calias one
I tried both and they both displayed airbag warning light
But V8 one had a different rev count so didnt go with it.

I stuck with the V6 works no problems all functions work (except light in centre window but am assuming globe....) and can only assume that the airbag warning light stays on as i dont have airbag in passengers side and the cluster was in car that has one??

U can get that fault code cleared either using a tech 2 which Greg has or a similar tool that snap-on does.

Hi all, am a noob to this so will c what happens. I have a VT wagon that I would like to replace the single window dash with a triple window dash. Everything seems to work fine, except the LPG light does not come on with it. It still changes from petrol to LPG, but I have no idea what fuel I am on. Is this an easy "take it to holden" fix or something more sinister?
