Default iPod input in Blaupunk head unit?

How much would it cost to have iPod/aux connectivity done on the blaupunkt headunit of a VZ? It's a 6-disc in-dash player.
Would this unit also be able to handle aftermarket speakers? The stock ones sound very dull!

    Appreciate your help. Thank you.

yes they can handle after market. just dont try to play them too loud (i think they cut out fairly quickly w/o an amp?)

retro fitting an AUX port might be the hard bit (if it can even be done - i havent heard of it happening)

maybe move this post too ? should be in Audio section

Ummmm - thanks D-Man, but this is indeed in the right section!

(some few years ago I developed a mod for the Blau to allow Aux Input...)

And yes, the stock speakers are total rubbish. Great improvement can be made by simply replacing these, but even better results if my other Blau mod (4 channel RCA preamp outputs) is installed, and the speakers driven by an external amplifier. Oh, one other thing I should mention - from the factory the Blau has "DDL" (Dynamic Distortion Limiting) enabled - this cuts the gain in the unit if levels are getting high - if this is turned off, then much better output performance can be achieved.

There are several threads describing these mods, so I won't go over it again here.

    Cheerz!

    Hey Greg,
Was wondering if you're able to install the direct iPod connection to the Blaupunkt head unit yet? You know the one where you can control the iPod through the head unit?

Yes indeed H0LD3N - although that articular product isn't sold by ASR, I can perform the installation. (I have engaged in some dialog with Vlad from UDC - his design is very nice, and much more "integrated" as far as iPod functions go. The mod I offer is much less cost, but more a "generic" input - doesn't HAVE to be an iPod, it can be abything with a portable headphone socket)

The disadvantage with my mod (for iPod users) is that whilst the volume buttons work fine, any track selection must be done with the controls on the player itself. Many of my customers decided that whilst UDC's setup is beautifully engineered, the cost makes them baulk a bit. (the installed cost of UDC's setup is more than double what ASR offers...)

What Vlad DOES do for me, is any of his customers who would also like the RCA outputs, he refers them straight to me. Vlad and myself aren't competing with each other - we're actually working together to an extent!

I will be working on a solution which does away with the player device altogether - but no details yet.... Before I can start on developing that setup, I need to get some spare $....

    Excellent,
So if I were to source the parts from Vlad through ebay would I be able to get you to install it for me? Also can you by any chance PM me the price to install? It just makes it easier this way due to not having to have to send my head unit off to Vlad and having to do without my head unit for a week or however long it takes to send off, install and send back. This way I can have it in and out and installed in 1 day. Not to mention you've already modded by head unit for pre-outs, so you are already aware of what's done to it.

    Cheers
