Default ANNOUNCEMENT - Aux In and RCA out mods for VT/VX Eurovox stereo.

    G'day all.

Actually the first of these took place over a month ago, I just wanted to make certain it was stable.

For those wanting to keep the standard head unit from their VT/VX/VU Commys, I can now provide high quality four channel RCA outputs (to feed to external amps), and a stereo hard-wired Aux Input - for your MP3 player, or any other portable audio device. (for those who have tried the FM modulator, I guarantee far superior results. Har-wired is the only way to get the signal quality from your player device into the head unit itself - no fading, no static, or interference from buildings or other transmitters... Just your music.)

Just as in the Blaupunkt mods for VY and VZ, the RCA outputs are fed from the pre-amp output - it's NOT just an LOC "built in" to the unit (as one smart-arse suggested once... ). That ensures a clean signal, un-distorted by the internal power amp chips.

I've attached a pic of what the Aux In setup looks like, for what that's worth. See the red button in the cup holder? That's pretty much all you'll see, apart from the patch lead. (which runs from the headphone socket on your player device) As the car in the pic is a Berlina, it has a lid over the cup holder - when that's closed, you can't even see the button!

    Prices?

    Aux In - $170 installed
RCA Output - $140 installed (4 channel - FL, FR, RL, RR)
"Combo" - $280 installed (Aux In and RCA out)

    Cheerz!

Greg i would also look at making some switches to go where the power goes for the manual cars and one (if not the same ) for the traction button as some cars would not have this, just like in your VY/VZ ones it look so much better i think

Yeah, thought about that.... But the PWR and TC buttons in these models are set into the oval plastic cover trim that's over the auto shifter housing. In a manual, that housing isn't there - neither the panel - just the boot around the gear lever.... So there's nowhere to put 'em! LOL!

I am looking into it though - if you go back to the original threads n the VY/Z Aux mod, you'll find exactly the same red push-button.... (mounted differently, but it's the same switch...)

Thats how you switch to the aux in mode.

you will have the radio on or cd player and then when you push the button it goes into the aux mode

That looks like a VXII Calais with the Maestro unit. Obviously your mod is available for each of the various Eurovox headunits (i.e. VT Exec tape only / VT-VX Berlina CD & tape / VT-VX Calais tape only / WH Stato tape only / VX CD only)?

I'm thinking of replacing my Maestro h/u with a VX "CD only" unit (& without the pwr antenna buttons as i have a VE-style external roof-mounted antenna). That way with your mod i'd have normal CD's plus an aux in. The only "minus" for doing this to a Calais is i'd lose the second antenna ("diversity") input.

Would it be possible to use the "CD changer" button (obviously only on H/U's with that functionality) to access the aux in, rather than a separate button? Just a thought i had, maybe this isn't possible.

Keep up the good work Phreddy you da man!

Phreddy, email sent regarding AUX input for a VX. Interested, only if there is no sound quality loss when playing iphone music.

Can vouch for Phreddy's work on this. Had the AUX /RCA mod done about 12months ago, worked flawlessly ever since. (VX Berlina)
