    Default Screen Colour

Hey Phreddy, i have just found a berlina head unit to be put in my SV6 and i was wondering if you can change the colour of it or if it's possible? Maybe even change the screen all together?
The screen on the VE berlina is currently green back ground and i don't think that looks nice at all.

Let me know if you can change the color of it.

Ummmm - Now the Berlina display screen is different to that in the SV6, correct? The mouldings are also differnent, to house the screen... Have you bought / are you buying the Berly head unit complete with the screen? (I'm under the impression that the Berlina stereo is similar to the SV6, in that the box houses the electronics and control panel, but the display sceen is mounted in the top centre of the dash?) Sorry, I haven't taken much notice of the VE Berlina's...

That being said, I can change the LED colours in the fascia - although I'm wondering if the SV6 control panel would just snap in and work? (although if they're completely different, that's not viable of course...) If you have a pic of the Berlina unit, please post it or shoot it to me in an email....

Hey Phreddy, This is the Berlina unit with the screen:

The sv6 does not come with a screen and can not play MP3 CDs so i would like to change it to a unit that can play MP3 cds. Here is the normal SV6 one:

I will be getting the berly unit reprogrammed at no limit so it will work with the HVAC.

I will also be painting the berly fascia black like this SSV one (it won't effect the icons because they are on the buttons which are not attached to the front plate).

Ah, OK.... Then the SV6 and Berlina unit ARE significantly different.....

I can't see a problem with doing that Mate - it should look pretty schmick actually!

(now, that screen is strictly all one colour, right? Green??) As long as that's the case, and it's currently lit with LEDs, then the conversion should be very straightforward.

Now, I will mention that the climate control in the Berlina might also be significantly different, as in more sensors and transducers and stuff... I do recall working on an Acclaim one time, and he'd put a Calais unit in there.... He had to get that stereo unit reprogrammed to "fool" it into thinking that all those sensors were connected. Have you hooked it up as yet? Does it all function as it should?

Lol Phreddy you're working to hard :P

I have found a picture of the screen when it's on. (Its a LCD monochrome)

So do you think you can change it? How much are we looking at?

Also i was wondering if it would be possible (and easier) if we change the screen all together because apparently the screen resolution is very low.

    Bewdiful Mate, that's perfect.

I feel very confident that it can be achieved, would you be looking at red or white for the screen? (I'd imagine you'd be after red in the buttons, to match your other interior illumination...)

Will send you a PM to discuss pricing...

Oh, probably doesn't really matter Mate - I don't feel that the resolution of the top-mounted screen (like your SV6) is anything to be excited about.... We might run into other protocol problems if we try to mix-n-match...

Ah, OK - G'day Abe!! Hope you're enjoying that dash Mate!

Kev, that's the other car I was beating on about in the previous post. Bear inmind that's a Calais unit, and has a full colour screen - but in your case I could definitely go blue screens all round, and white buttons as in the pic kindly posted by Abe.

Where are you Kev? Are you near me, or would I be coming to see you on one of my road trips??

    Cheerz, we'll PM re pricing...
