Default Running Sub

Hey Phreddy,

First post so take it easy on me.

Got a VZ sv6- i am fairly happy with the stock system and i'm not really interested in replacing speakers etc, just wanted to add a single 12" sub to the system for a bit of extra punch. After reading your Thread seems that everyone wants to run the speakers off the amp as well, Hence why you recommend your modification to avoid distortion, But if i was to run just the sub the distortion wouldnt be noticeable through a sub and i could just use a simple LOC?

Could you please PM the price of your modification as well just for thought and the price of a LOC.

Thanks
Alex

G'day there Alex.

Heh - I'll be gentle....

In all honesty I'd suggest you'd probably be OK with a LOC if you're just after a sub. It would certainly be cheaper for you, but if you install the LOC in such a way as it can be easily removed and on-sold, if it doesn't work sufficiently well then we can talk about a true low-level out for you. If you only want the rear channels I can custom build a kit to take that into account - save you a few bucks.

It would of course be easy for me to tell you straight up that you need my mod - but I think it's better if you decide for yourself. I don't have an LOC, but can order one in for you if required - price will be just over 20 bucks, it's a resonably decent quality unit without being pretentiously overpriced.

Cheerz, Happy '07 to all!

Default VY Sound Improvement

Hi Phreddy,
Only just joined this forum and wrote a lengthy post about how I could improve my VY sound while keeping the original head unit. I then discovered this thread, which seems to answer what I was after.
Is there anyone in Melbourne who installs your kit, (the circuit board that bypasses the Blau internal amp to feed a clean signal to an after market amp).
If not do you have a changeover service.
If I asked a local installer to follow your instructions and install your components, what do you think would be a reasonable time/cost for him to charge.
Thanks
PFX

Although I have some electrical background I bought the input kit from freddy and installed the kit myself complete with factory style switch and it wasnt hard so I recommend doing it yourself...all you need is a good small tip soldering iron, solder wick that desolders components and a solder sucker.
With a bit of patience it will be worth the effort. If you think you are not up to the actual component soldering/desoldering maybe you could do the drilling and filling etc fitting of the switch/plug to try keep cost to a mininum.

Thanks for the plug Mark! (I'll buy you a cold one when I get to Melbourne!) Oh, and your kits will be on the way early next week - e-mail to follow soon.

PFX - have replied to your mail, thanks for that.

As an aside - I have sent a mail-out to the members of the Brisbane and Adelaide lists, haven't received any feedback or job specs yet.... Is there a chance my mail server screwed up and the message wasn't in fact sent??

Could a couple of the current list members just let me know if the mail-out arrived? It was simply discussing a couple of the points regarding job numbers, fuel allowances, accommodation, etc.

I have had separate contact with one of the Brisbane fellas (aside from the mail-out), and I'm pleased to say that accommodation whilst I'm up there is arranged. So Brisbane-ites, let's get these bookings filled up so the trip can get underway - I'm keener than ever!

Cheerz All, I'll be back....
