hey phreddy,
do u have a way to make the standard H/U play mp3 CD's because that’s something i really want but i don’t want to change the H/U because my car is a WK and shares the stereo screen and clock with the climate control.

I know this isnt the right thread, but i couldnt find one dedicated to the ipod interface.

Someone mentioned this in another thread in the VZ section and i thought id ask about it here. Basically its someone else who offers the Aux/ipod mod for factory commodore head units.

What i was wondering is, whats the difference between this and what Phreddy offers?

if i read correctly, this guy charges $500+, a fair bit more than Phreddy.

Is this in relation to the volume level on VY Blaupunkts?

The max my headunit can go to in volume when playing a CD is around 38-39..thats where it stops getting louder, even if I turn it up to 50+ the volume doesnt continue going up after I reach 38ish..its really annoying.

Hey if im using two amps, one for the sub and one for the speakers how do i use the 4 outputs to plug into all these?

If one of the amps has a pair of "pass-thru" inputs, you loop these across to the sub amp. Or you use a couple of "Y" adaptors. Easy.

Oh, and Pepstar - you need to disable the DDL function (Dynamic Distortion Limiting) - it's in the trip options when you start the car. ("Press ^ or v for menu options" or whatever it says....) Turn DDL to "OFF". From now on though the unit will be depending on YOUR EARS as to whether the output is starting to break up and distort.

Ok whoa, got the true rca's and aux combo installed on monday and all i can say is wow.

Every time i get into my car and listen to music i smile at the quality of sound, its crisp, clear as glass and the bass is tight and in general sound is just clean. the real difference hits when you play a proper cd or a song on an ipod at a high bit rate. it blows my mind away.

greg did a great job, everything was very professional and thought out well, not to mention he was great to chat to. he even helped with a faulty remote wire which had nothing to do with his work.

if anyone is sitting on the fence about this mod, don't bother-just do it!

Heh - told you that you were in for a treat, didn't I??

(to those who might not be aware, this was an installation where the amps and speakers were already in place running from LOCs.... Once the mod was installed, it was just a matter of swapping the RCA cables to my line out sockets, and once the remote wire problem was sorted - voila!)

I have heard this mod in Gregs car personally and was blown away with the quality coming though his response splits. I have an aftermarket Clarion HU with Focal Splits and Gregs sounds louder and clearer going though the standard modded HU.

Hello Every one,
I have a vy as does me mate and were are both suffering from the standard radio working when it wants to and clock not keeping time also ariel not going up or down. i cant find anything wrong,checked fuses and battery connections.
Any one any ideas?
