I'm considering purchasing a VE Omega early next year, and i would like to discuss what options are available for retaining the factory integrated units.
I'm aware of the basic LOC options, and i have also been looking into the available range of signal processors, neither of which appeal to me. I can't get my head around the whole idea of processing a signal that i am unhappy with....
To my knowledge , the output signal produced from any source comes down a lot to the quality of the DAC, and the transport itself should have little overall bearing.
So i would like to know what can be done to the factory integrated units to improve signal.
1- Can you change out the DAC to a better quality item?
2- Otherwise is there any way to add a digital output to the CD transport and bypass the factory DAC, allowing use of one of the factory sources as a pre-amp to something of better quality.
If what i am after simply cannot be done then i will accept that, and i will have to look at completely replacing and modifying the centre unit to accept some other form of multi media station. If someone from ASR would be interested in attempting the above please let me know.
