ima long time reader first time poster, Ive done a bit of a search here but haven't found the answer I am looking for.
I have a vt s2 calais gen 3, and I want to keep it neat and orig.
I was wondering how I could use my iphone 4 to play music through the current speaker system as I want to keep in place the original head unit too.
Is there an audio aux set up i can do or similar?
cheers
I was wondering if I could do the job my self, do they sell the kit and some instrunctions? I am in Melbourne, looks like they are in Syd.
Alpine eX-10 Advanced iPod/iPhone Controller with Bluetooth. Thats what I had in my WH Statesman when it had the stock stereo system. You can install it yourself and it just plugs into the cigarette lighter and tunes in through the radio.
jesus i think mine cost 25bucks
Damn, I got ripped off haha. I'll put up a link, it's the exact one I have, now its $119. RRP is $299.
ALPINE eX-10 BLUETOOTH FM TRANSMITTER CAR KIT IPOD MP3 | eBay
definitely hit up ASR. the radio tuner wont give the quality you want, an AUX input will be easier and better to listen to.
Need some parts for my VH 253:
Green standard steering wheel...Green lower B-pillar covers.
Green sunglasses holder/lower dash bits...Air-con and assorted engine bay parts.
PM with any info.
phreddy done the aux mod for my VX about a year ago. works better than any FM tuners. well worth the money! I spoke to him about the DIY kit, apparently he didnt have instructions written for my headunit and prefered to do it himself anyway. I opted for the post in, post back. So i had to do the install of the 3.5mm socket myself, but thats no trouble at all!
I kept the original head unit in my car and fitted a Parrot MKI 9200. Gives full iPod interface with Bluetooth for the phone. All original features work as soon as you pause the iPod. Not a totally seamless integration as there is a bonus screen on the dash and the tiny control unit. Had to have a suppression filter installed to remove noise from the alternator. Uses the input to existing amp to hijack the audio line - not perfect as can't control balance etc. but the quality is more than acceptable.
