After 2 months of waiting for Greg to get in contact with me about my request for a full conversion, he left a message on my phone on Saturday. I received it on Tuesday (thanks, Vodafone) and thought 'Oh no, I've missed my chance'. I called the man straight away and heard 'ASR, Greg speaking' (or something to that effect anyway). YES!
After a few minutes of talking he was able to fit me in the following morning (as his hotel is less than 10 mins from my place...lucky me!) and it was all organised. I was super excited when he rocked up. I heard the Stato from down the street. 'He's here!' I exclaimed.
What can I say about Greg apart from he's a top bloke. We discussed what I wanted, I only mentioned it once and he carried out the task at hand, didn't need to clarify a second time (unlike a lot of people) and he began. Less than 4 hours later and he was done. Blue screens, red needles, white buttons and red PWR button (I didn't get the dials changed as I thought the white it has would be good enough...unfortunately I was wrong. Might get him to do them next time) I turned the ignition and parkers on and...wow. Amazing!
I thanked the man, we had a brief chat about about GPS systems (after a few other chats during the morning about life) and he was off using his Garmin (all the while wishing it was another Tom Tom) to the bayside.
I was so stoked about the end result that I didn't even notice he hadn't installed the footwell LED strips we agreed on. I already had SMD LED globes installed so I didn't bother to check. I got a call today and he informed me that he hadn't completed his end of the deal. 'Ill post them out to you as soon as I get back' he said with a worried sounding tone. 'No stress, mate' I said, as I was still stoked about the rest of the work. 'Also', I said, 'the screens on the cluster seem to be pulsating a bit, very noticable at night. Have you had this issue before?'. 'It's to do with the frequency of the blue LEDs' he explained. 'I'm getting a few level 3 clusters in the next few weeks, I'll install the blue LEDs and bench test them and see what I can do. I'll come back and sort yours out next time I'm down. I don't want to leave you high and dry'. What a great way to keep customer satisfaction. No wonder his reputation is so good.
All in all, a top notch job from top bloke from a top guy. Definitely, definitely recommend getting Greg to convert your dash if he hasn't done it already. Thank heaps mate.
how much was it?
Cost me $450 (because I have a Calais and am interstate) but speak to Phreddy to get a more personalised quote
Great write up mate, so true about hearing him coming from up the street haha. Looks great!
Looks the goods man. Congrats.
Just got my dash conversion done also last week by Phreddy.
The best mod I have ever done.
I too have the pulsating digits when the dash lighting is dimmed to a certain level, temporary fix I found would be to raise the brightness abit till they stop pulsating.
I hope we can find a permanent fix later down the track

BIG Thanks to Phreddy @ ASR audio and electronics. Dash conversion.
Cheers.

The pulsing on the blue LED's start when the "auto lights on" relay clicks in. I have a WL cluster in my VZ and noticed that every time the auto lights on clicks in the left and right screens pulse or more so a flicker.
I dont think anything can be done to fix it tho.
