Good luck getting an answer to this from Greg, he won't share it to you to save his business, which is fair enough.

Surface mount device. I also know the exact size and PLCC package needed for the LED replacement. I don't, however, understand what you are trying to say..

i do know what a SMD is and there are two different main sizes there are 0603 and 0805 which is the size that is used behind the VZ Dash i dont want to buy a package from greg because its severally over priced and can quite simply done by anyone that is handy with a soldering iron.....

your kidding yourself if you think his going to give away info like that. good luck doing the work yourself hope it works out but its a bit cheeky asking a guy whos trying to make a living from it to give away trade secrets like that on a public forum.

Hahahahahaha right... Greg took 7 hours to do my conversion + stereo - cost me about $500 all up including travel. The electronics technician in town charges $70/hr ex GST, so already I've saved $200 from getting that guy not to do it, not to mention Greg knows the ins and outs of these things like the back of his hand.
If it's so simple go and desolder one of your LED's (better yet do the LCD screen whilst you're at it), then take it to Jaycar and see if they can help you.

An that $70 a hour I'm sure wouldn't involve pulling everything out an putting it back he would expect you to provide him with the pieces to work on an he'd give them back for you to reinstall.

Totally agree with you the time effort an the quality of work Greg provides for what he charges is very very cheap. An auto elec friend of mine said there's well over $1000 worth of work done in mine an it only cost just over $700 + he did the conversion from stage 1 cluster to stage 3 cluster for me.(I supplied the cluster of course)

Rightio champ you post this question in a site sponsor section rather than in the "VZ " section an wonder why people don't just hand info over.

Ok the question has been asked elsewhere so no need for this topic to remain open.

As discussed, ASR is a fully operational business which is Greg's livelyhood at the moment and has taken him a large amount of time and money to work this stuff out himself, so you cant blame him or his customers for not wanting to disclose the information to protect his business as best he can. I cant just walk into the local bakery and demand to know their bread ingredients or suppliers for free because I have a breadmaker at home and can do it myself ... its esentially the same analogy here.

I wish you the best of luck with the conversion. Someone posted a "how to" earlier in the year with the aim of providing direction on how to do this and it was removed a short time later "Due to alot of people contacting me about screwing up there own dash"
