my headlight switch always used to be dim (vz), so after hearing about the led dash conversions, i took it apart and had a look.
one of the bulbs had blown, and in the process of "looking" at it, i snapped one of the other bulbs off.
after that it never lit up at all.
so now i have bought another one off ebay, sold as 'working' but this one doesnt light up either.
i'm waitng for phreddys adelaide road trip to get a conversion done, but is there something i should do to avoid the led conversion not working either?
am i just unlucky and the ebay one is blown aswell? or is there a deeper problem somewhere in the wiring?
anyone heard of this before?
anyone had a blown switch and a led conversion fixed it fine?
thanks
please move thread if necessary
edit: just checked, all bulbs blown on the new switchwonder if its bad luck, or something is causing the bulbs to blow.

Are the new bulbs LED's? Some LED's (or all???) only work one way.
Most of the VY/VZ by now will have blown at least a couple bulbs in the headlight switch, sometimes the trip computer switch and almost always the rear power window switches. When i converted my VY recently (135,000km on the clock) 2 out of the 4 globes in the headlight switch were gone, and desoldering them was enough to finish off the ones that were still going.
Just replace them with LEDs. You need a 680 or 750ohm resistor in series with each LED. Sand the tops of 3mm LEDs to get decent light dispersion.
Keep in mind when testing that the headlight switch is powered by the key in the ignition being turned to ACC, not the headlight switch being set to on, common error![]()
thanks for the replies.
all bulbs so far have been standard factory bulbs
i hope that the bulbs have just all died naturally, and a LED conversion will fix it.
if it doesnt.... then i'll have to do some more "looking" around
