i have a same problem at first, how do you deal this problem?
If you can be bothered to drive to Phreddy's place, in western sydney, its well worth the drive, you get quality work, and he's a top bloke.. I highly reccomend getting Phreddy to do the job after watching him do mine, he knows all the ''ins and outs'' of the dash, comletely...
I drove down from the central coast.. and is definately well worth it, for the guarantee of quality workmanship.
I think he's doing roadshow tours around soon, so shoot him a PM and sort something out..
i have a same problem at first, how do you deal this problem?
ahah yeah, we all cant recommend him enough!
after sales support is great too. even if it is just for a chat, ahah
so i am currently living on the northern side of sydney if i wanted to get this done in a red led on a Vz SV6 how much would this cost ???
hey i got a vz and i would like to change my dash to blue where can i get the lights from autobarn?
umm their not lights, their a particular style of LED which need a skilled pro to change them over or risk killing your instrument cluster thus what Phreddy does ...
where can i get the leds from to change it to blue? is there any shop i can get it from
Q: Why should I buy your kit? I can get the LEDs from a hobbyist supplier a little cheaper....
A: You could get most of the LEDs, although you'll find the SMD types are difficult to get hold of in small quantities. (you can find them, but it's almost guaranteed they'll be the wrong type - the ones for mobile phones are the WRONG type!) A LED is not necessarily a LED - they vary greatly in emitted wavelength (colour), angle of radiation, mounting style, intensity..... A great deal of trouble has been taken to ensure colour matched, intensity matched, and correct type LEDs for these kits. The leaded type LEDs also have various modifications to lens shapes and lead-forms to firstly make the installation run smoothly, and secondly to concentrate the light output where it needs to be. Much trial and error went into this, so you don't have to. Finally, the kit is accompanied by a 34 page document - printed in full colour - to guide you through all the stripdown, modification, and reassembly procedures.
i think that pretty well answers it ( cheers Phreddy ) basically - from a shop your bound to go wrong, not to mention the skills needed to do it competantly ontop of that Phreddy has done it before knows what to get, how to do it and strongly recommends not to do it yourself. Fork out the extra dosh for Phreddy to do it (he also does mail in / mail out) and you EVEN get a 34 page document in COLOUR! how special!
cheers,
so where can i buy them from

G'day Phreddy,
I have just recently fitted a Berlina front bar, fog lights, headlight switch and relay to my ex-police VZ exec. Real easy. Basically plug and play. The question I have and am hoping you can answer for me is, can a LED be added to the standard dash to illuminate when these fog lights are on? I see that there is one on upper level dash clusters, just below the battery warning light but not on mine. Is it a push in bulb/led, or does it rerquire wiring and soldering?
Thanks, Phil.
Gday Phil, I can answer that.
On the black exec dash no.
I know from experience, Ive pulled apart an old VZ dash and found no light. Plus my SX6 Adventra has the Executive dash with the fog lights (as their an accessory on the SX6 Adventra) and its the same.
Stupid idea really on Holdens behalf especially when VT/VX had it on ALL dash clusters
holden rocks - you would need to purchase a kit from Phreddy. Price list is still being finalised, I'll let you know when its done so you know how much it'll cost.
G'day Torquative,
Thanks for the quick reply. Too bad about the answer, wasn't what I wanted to hear! Never mind, back to the drawing board, keep me posted on those kits when they are finalised.
Cheers, Phil.
hey i got my lights off ebay the other day, blue, looks sick as.
18$ from some guy, fitted them myself.
bit of trouble though as getting the insturment cluster out i scratched the thin ribbon wire and then my speedo didnt work but some soldering handy work i fixed it and worked a treat.
pain in the ass is trying them both ways if they dont work because they are led's\
get the LED's from Phreddy you can mail him your specs and payment.
he will send it back. then you can fit it yourself.
or take the car to someone in melbs ( i think phreddy has a bloke down here who does it) get him to fit it and your done.
or
make the trip up to sydney (what im going to do) give phreddy a TY slab + payment and get him to do it while watching i hope![]()
From this moment forward, any bollocks threads spruiking about where to get LEDs from and so on will be deleted, not moved.
This is the ASR sponsor's forum - for ASR business. I need to make my living doing this now, and whilst I always encourage people to have a go, the purpose of this sub-forum is NOT for experimenters to share ideas. That's what the individual model sub-forums are for. I have spent a LOT of time and money researching and working out the BEST way to do these conversions. Anyone can do it the "easy" way, but I have found the results left me wanting - therefore I wouldn't perform that work to someone else's car. If I'm not happy with the result, I don't expect others to be.
I know the ASR forum is at the very top of the list, but that's because Spnosor's forums are at the top - and it just happens that ASR Audio & Electronics is first in alphabetical order. Please stop being so lazy and make your contributions to the correct areas!
Thanks.

Well I would love for you to devlope a kit for a VN-VS Blue light conversion, I did mine myself, but I would like the needles to be red, as I can see them very well, is there anyway for them to like up red with a blue LED background, any ideas? I painted the back of the needles white because I couldnt see them(orange paint and blue LEDs didnt mix)
it was previously mentioned that this is available from a contact in melbourne? is this correct? if so how much would one be looking at for this work to be completed? I gotta say it definetly looks awesome. Thanks,
