OK, after two long years I'm very pleased to announce that the ASR roadshows are indeed hitting the road again!
No dates as yet, that depends entirely on the interest levels. Let it be said though that - obviously - I will need to secure enough work to make a trip worthwhile. The past roadshow involved a week in Brisbane, and another week in Adelaide - in each location I had enough work booked to keep me fairly busy the whole time. This time I can't see why it would be any different.
Now what also needs to happen - as I'm sure can be appreciated - is that before each trip takes place I need to know how many jobs will be booked, so I can calculate the fuel costs. This total is split evenly between each person on the "itinerary" so as to cover my costs. I don't have any plans as yet to allocate splits of the travel time, I'm prepared to absorb that part of it.
I'm thinking of making Melbourne the first on the list this time, as you guys missed out before. I will also be returning to Brissy, and Adelaide. The metro centre is where I'll be concentrating, however those in regional areas may also be in luck. On each of the trips before, on the way was a diversion though Gilgandra on the Brisbane run (G'day Shane!) and Griffith on the Adelaide leg. (Shorty - haven't heard from you in ages Bro - hope you're well!) If a diversion to your town isn't terribly far out of the way, I'm sure we can work something out.
Expressions of interest please - I know there have been some guys sending the odd PM and such, can I ask that each of you who are interested please shoot me a separate email - phreddy@asr-audio.com.au - this way I can file these properly and keep an accurate track of what has to be done. Thanks!
Don't forget that in addition to the usual dash lighting and stereo mods, I'm now kitted up to customise cluster displays, set up speedo calibrations, reset and analyse DTCs, and many other items usually reserved for dealerships and the hoops they often make you jump through.
It's on boys and girls! Woohoo!!![]()

what do you actually do
Speed never killed anyone. Suddenly becoming stationary, now that's what gets you...
Count me in for a dash & gauges colour change.
HAZZA-VN - check my signature, look at my website, or read a few of the posts in this sub-forum - or maybe the FAQs...
NORTI - what kind of work do you need done? Wiring? Lighting? Programming? I've done a little bit of all of that with VR/VS, but I would need to know some specifics of the job.
To all - thanks for the emails, I have a job on this arvo but I will reply to each of you confirming your spot sometime this evening.
At the moment I have no idea on times - I would like to think I'll embark on the Melbourne leg within a couple of weeks at this stage, then the other two destinations not too long after..
I need to point out a couple of things though - a few of the guys who have emailed are asking about VT (and VX) - guys, I'm afraid for the "right now" we can't do it in this trip. Please don't panic, Ant and I are VERY close now to having the technique sorted for these.
We've come to the conclusion that (to do it properly) we need to use a custom PCB to mount the LEDs. I'm just finishing the design for that board now, but production times mean that we can't do it on this trip. There will be more road trips now, and it won't take anything like two years to get the next ones going! In any case, the way we're doing the VT/VX mod it's MUCH easier (doesn't require high level stripdown or surface mount soldering) and therefore a "DIY kit" is much more viable.
Anyways, stand by for confirmations - things are looking very encouraging already so there's no worries about the actuality of the trips, given the numbers that have come in after less than 24 hours!
Cheerz!

Sorry, lighting. I had dash, climate, trip comp, shifter, power window switches all changed to blue LED's, however some have obviously shit themselves / broken solder, or some shit, I have no idea, but means some of the dash ones arent working anymore, & one of the power window ones has stop also.
I realise that being someone else work there is probably shit all you can do. So, what sort of price am I looking at if I get new everything from the wreckers & you blue my new stuff instead?
NORTI - don't go buying anything yet, I can have a look over what's been done and maybe tidy it up / replace any LEDs required etc... The reason being that I haven't really perfected the method for VR/VS instrumentation yet, so if someone else worked it out I can simply repair/replace what's required.
Banks - it'll definitely be prior to mid-year Mate, I'm talking about doing the Melbourne run in the next couple of weeks, then a couple of weeks at home maybe, then either Brissy or Adelaide - depends on which way things work out. I would imagine at this stage the window would be between late Feb and early April - both Brisbane and Adelaide can take this as a guide for now, it'll be narrowed down as the time approaches.

great to hear phreddy...
umm so still not able to do a VT dash LED conversion??
cheers
I'm definately in Greg, email already sent mate![]()
I've not been following the dash led thing for some years, since i did mine.
So what you are saying now you have resolved bright spots by adding surface mount leds like the later models, and are now in the process of making it even easier by custom making a new board for them that can be swapped, right?
Will this cover all dash variations VT VX ? Sounds interesting the board kit, how far away is this? might need a couple
Do you do anything with the green backing or just overpower it?
Can you change the face overlay colour also, seems to be aftermarket colours but not any auto ones that can display what gear your in as per oem Berlina Calais..
Blue wedge surface mount LED's got any for the floor lighting? had some reds that didn't work out on the garnish as expected so threw them on the floor lighting, but i want blue, not been able to get these so far.
thanks, good luck on you new venture too.
how are these done? do you have a place where we all go to?
ahhhh crap... i live in geelong. might have to go to a friends house
