I've seen alot of people ask about the $300 ebay dvd players for cars, both here and in other forums. Well my brother bought one, and if you want to know why it came out the next day, read on. Im awake you get what you pay for, and am not having a whinge for the sake of it. This product would be good for certain people, depending on how u use it.
RRP: Buy it now $300-$450 (brother got it for $230 bidding)
Features:
DVD player, bluetooth, ipod connection, motorised 8.5" touch screen, usb port, tv tuner
Things I like: Looks good. Quality of the screen is fine for the price paid. Interface is also acceptable for the price paid. Easy connections to be made on the back of the unit during installation. It doesnt look a milion dollars, but it doesnt look cheap, and overall is a good looking unit.
Things I dislike: Sound quality is acceptable for cds and dvds, but the ipod sound quality is abismal. If you plan on using it, you do not want this unit. But most of all, the motorised screen is a nightmare. Unless your cars dash is perfectly straight or concaves below the Single din slot, you might as well throw it out. When you reattach the screen, it moves to be perfectly straight with the unit(as though it was a double din dvd unit)....the angle is adjustable once everythings powered. But if the dash doesnt let it hang down 5 inches straight(ie in my brothers 91 corolla seca, i hits the air con) then its gonna break it.
The remote control is required too much to operate the unit .
Ipod connection was loose, whenever you touch it , it crackles.
On the head deck, when you scroll through the ipod, u need to look at the ipod to see what ur doing. the head deck does not display the file system on the ipod.
Star rating out of five:
2/5. only reason it doesnt get a 1 is because it was cheap.
In summary, if your dash is straight down from where your din slot is, if you want to use it as a cd/dvd player and not fussed about sound but want the visual, then its good value for money.

and hopefully you get one of the 50% of them that acutally work!!!
hey mate is this about the same cause it's a double din so the flat moving part shouldnt matter just the sound from the ipod i guess if it was ok for 330 i think i could handle it, i'm not the biggest music person, but on some days it has to drown out my engine and sound good........possible?
also just thought i have really bumpy roads in my town .would it skip like when cheap cd units first came out and did that?
cheers..............jacko

Because theres no brand name reliability here, who knows until u get one!
I wouldnt expect it to skip, cause surely all modern players have buffering technology
From my experience of knockoff media players, is the interfaces are never as good, and the sound quality is noticably not as good. Its a $300 gamble, u may get it and be happy, or you may regret the purchase.
hey mate cheers for that i think i might just go for the gamble and buy it, ill let you know in a few weeks if it's any good.
...........jacko

I am looking at this one on ebay 7" IN DASH CAR DVD IPOD PLAYER LCD Digital TV DVB-T GPS - eBay, Navigation, GPS, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 28-Oct-09 02:06:52 AEDST)
Problem is I still don't know if my VX2 steering controls (volume / mode etc) will interface with the system ?
I been reading the threads and read about CAT ? PAC ? SWI Jacks ? Mate I'm confused.
i think it'll only interface if u buy a cat convertor. best seeing a car audio specialist
i'm tempted by one of these....the Pioneer and Alpine ones are pricey!
hey,
i was looking at a eonon unit off ebay.. its the 1091 model double din...
i was just wondering if there are any hassels with the installation like if it fits in the spot correctly.. and whether they can be hooked up to my steering wheel controls in my Vx commodore...
if anyone can help thatd be great.
cheers.

They are a normal double DIN size, as far as installing them goes its the same as a regular unit. So yes, they will fit into your VX but will have a small (10-15mm) gap above or below the unit (the hole is 10-15mm larger than double DIN), so if your picky you'll need to get a small piece of ABS plastic to cover this gap up. If your not so picky then leaving it with the gap below the unit isnt so bad.
As far as wiring to your factory steering wheel goes, its dosent have a wired remote input, so this may be a problem.
150db in a commodore =
ohk guys... ill clear some of this stuff up... i used to have an 8.5inch touch screen single din eonon player in my vs...
Good Points:
Cheap As
Easy to install
Compatable with apsoluitly every file and format and will play everything
i had it in a vs so it fit soooo well into the dash
sound quality is acctually amazing (ipod also but u have to get the right eq setting)
SO MANY FEATURES
Bad Points:
Very Poor Quality... they dont last very long.
You Find u never use half the features
This from personal experience
lmao! now you really are demonstrating your ignorance.
they have the WORST sound quality I have ever heard from a car headunit! even stock headunits have better sound quality!
the fact you're digging up a 2 year old thread is bad enough, the fact you're doing it to promote an inferior product is just appalling!
i don't mind the radio, it is better SQ than the cd/usb/sd etc, but Eonon is still shit, can't wait to get my new H/Ubut yeah don't go near them
