    Question 2 Din DVD Installation...

    Hey everyone...

Just thinking this week i'll get rid of the stockie head unit and install a DVD double din one.

I'm looking at it on a budget as I only want it to play DVD (I don't really need kick a** sound...)

How easily do those Eonon 7 inch 2 dins' fit in to the old VT head unit spot? Do they go in easily? Heres a link to the model I'm getting on Egay:

    This Model

    or this model

As I said, I'm not worrieed about sound just as long as I can watch DVD's on my usual long drives...

The main concern is fitting it (I'm getting a qoute tommorow, but haven't oredered the product yet)

Just please let me know past expriences etc...

    Thanks guys...
    Michael

Yes, and why would you want to "wreck" the dash of a senator?

    Hi,
I finally managed to install the DVD/GPS, almost everything wired up except one wire. There is a wire for the hand brake on the back of the head unit. Where do i connect that wire.
I searched around and i under stand that this wire is to to be connected to ground. Can anybody please confirm and what exactly is the purpose of this wire.

    Thanks

The purpose of that wire is to ensure the screen only displays a video signal when the parking brake is set (required by law). You can "get" around this by just connecting this wire to earth permanently. But if you get pulled over by the cops and they see the screen is on they will question you about it and might fine you for it.

Thanks for the reply. What is the legal way of wiring this wire.

    Thanks

The legal way is to wire this up to your handbrake switch (the output side of the switch). Just "tap" into the wire.

What's the quality and life of those units? They look ok but the price of them worries me

It's a good toy to play with. About life, i can't say as i installed it just. It's got RDS which is good. Basically you get what you pay for. Everything is working now, but who knows how long they are going to work.

Can you get a pic of it installed? Do your steering wheel buttons still work or do you need the CAT-10 device?

I will take a picture tonight and post it.

The steering wheel buttons don't work with it as i don't have a CAT-10 device. Also i don't see much advantage of the steering wheel controls as there are so many controls on the Head unit and there are very few buttons on the steering wheel.
