Hi all,
This is a picture of my parcelshelf, i have not had a chance to take photo's of it installed yet.
The Only problem i had with this project was putting it in, it took a lot of time fiddling around.
I have taken photos of every stage of the build process except a installed one, let me know if you want more pics to get an idea of how i made this.
Next time i make one of these ill have to take into consideration window glare, due to choice of color and reflections.
The base of this and the top section of the frame are made with fiberglass followed by a slight layer of kharrglass (i think its spelled like that). The speakers rings are exactly that - the speaker rings are incorporated under the fibreglass, easy speaker mounts. This took me about a month to complete. Questions are most welcome.
hey mate, dont have anything to post just wanted to say good job, it looks tops. how is the sound coming from it?
Yep real nice work there mate....no real questions here either![]()

HSVi - Calais-V HSVi Exclusive ‘Supersport’ 20” Designer Wheel
yes or no on my turismo blue vz sv6?
Thanks for the comment's
The sound is awesome from the 6x9's splits they sound close to 8" inch subs because of the component setup with the crossovers and tweets. The 6 & 1/2" splits are a bit mellow i think they are a bit to close to the rear window other then that they sound great along with the 2 sets of tweets.
It vibrates when i got the subs rumbling but no real rattle from the speakers themselves.
This was my first fiberglass project and it was pretty successfully. In the past i have only really worked with vinyl, carpet, mbf and that sort of materials.
I will post more pics soon with more info.
thanx in advance for postin pics it should me a bit cos i have no idea how to use fibreglass but im sure ill learn lol. I"m ok with cuttin stuff out and mdf and that though so shouldnt to hard so long as i pay attention to what im doing
Is there much clearance between the parcel shelf and the metal underneath for the speakers (as in the 6x9" components, as the 6.5" would be placed over the factory holes I asssume)?
Im currently working on a fiberglassed parcel shelf tutorial, ill post it up as soon as i can.
Heaps more picture will be added with the tutorial.

Hi there VN Calais, this is a job i done for a customer about 5 years ago...... it was also my first painted fibreglassing project....
Let me know what you think.....
cheers
Simon
Lets work as a TEAM and do it MY WAY!!
Thanx for that mate,
Did take a while to do..... I did most of it in between jobs and after hours...... One of the main reasons for tucking the speaker underneath the other one, was space constraints with the seat and also the car had electric windows.... Also the customer wanted more mid Bass up the front.... Suffice to say I achieved that..... This job was in a N15 Pulsar....
Got anymore pics of anything else you have done??
cheers
Simon

Hmm very good jobs eh.
Ive been thinkin off attacking my shelf, but have always figured it would be a bit harder to get a solid fibreglass job in inplace of the stocko, my stocko i had to slightly bend to get out so this has turned me away from making one up.
Was goin to jst MDF the underside n re-carpet it better material.
Did use use the orig shelf as a base plate for the mouldings?? or make up a new template?
It was an absolute pain in the ass to remove the base template after i made it and even worse to install the whole thing after i finished it.
The base is a fibreglass template of the metal parcel shelf on a VN.
The 6x9's are in an enclosed area similar to a sub box and the 6 1/2"'s use the original parcel shelf speaker holes.
