Has anyone has any experience with applying vinyl to speaker pods? If so, would you be able to offer some advice for me please? I'd like the vinyl obviously to be smooth without any creases or wrinkles, as they would be if they were purchased like the pre-fab ones..When i apply the vinyl, should i start from the topdise(where it's smaller) or from the base?![]()
You will need some bonding adhesive and a hair dryer or heat gun to help mould the vinyl.
Also, what is the vinyl like, stretch wise?

I'll see what its like to stretch, but thats basically what i was thinking on how to do it.It's just general upholstery vinyl from clark rubber.. I've got the adhessive and everything ready to go, i just dont want to butcher it lol. Im thinking i might just glue the top centre piece down to start with, and see if i can stretch the vinyl into a bit of a mould before i begin.
Yeah give that a go, then you will have a hold so you can work the vinyl. Heat will help mould the vinyl around curves.

I did my speaker pods in the vl on a 40 degree day. I wsat in the sun and used contact adhesive. You coat each side, put them together then pull them apart until the glue tacks off, then stretch away and glue down. I had staples down the back of mine too, so did one side of those first, so i basically stretched and stapled.
Also the corners need to be cut to avoid the vinyl bunching up on a visible surface. When u cut the slits for the corners, really take your time, and do it bit at a time, otherwise you'll end up with a vidible cut.

yeah i had 5 attempts at it, failed each time. I just couldnt' get it neat, and i'm very fussy. I ended up using some fabric instead, was a lot easier.
try sticking the vinyl in the oven for 5 mins or more. could work.. Don't **** it up but lol
