model number?? brand dosent matter really, if its good its good!
Hey guys I am just wondering, I am thinking of buying some clarion subs, and I would just like to hear what you guys think of them and your experiences with them.
Cheers.
model number?? brand dosent matter really, if its good its good!
I will find out more tomorrow, as I will be going up autobarn way and I will get a model number and a picture. I am looking at a 1000watt and a 800watt both under 100 nbucks each
I had a couple older model Clarion 12"s in my car for a while, and they went pretty hard but sound quality wasn't the greatest. I think they were around 800watt max, not sure on rms.

i got 2 12's in my car and they go alright, i bought them about 3 years ago and haven't had any problems yet. mine are 300 rms each so 600 all up and i'm using a 400watt amp to power them which is also a clarion amp, i paid $500 all up for the subs, amp, box and wiring kit.
YouTube - clarion subs
made that vid before i got my commie about 2 years ago, obviously the camera doesn't like the bass but the subs are loud enough to rattle my rear view mirror
Clarion aren't known for good subs... I'd look at Pioneer over them. Not sure what other brands Autobarn has. I'd go to JB Hifi and check out the JBL subs too.
Thanks guys. I don't have a really big budget at the moment, as I'm not working full time at the moment. I'd just like something cheap that goes alright for what i payed until i can afford a ear poppin' system.
I suggest either look at ex-demo, or a used item from Ebay. You can get some pretty decent gear if your patient and you shop around.
And like i was saying, rather than purchasing 2 cheap subs, and then an enclosure for them, i'd suggest spending the money on a decent single sub.
Im getting an enclosure off a mate for pretty much nothing, so thats not a problem.
is the enclosure suitable though, you cant just put a sub in a box and away you go. Well you can, but you won't get the most out of the sub. A lot can go into the design of a sub box, getting the internal dimensions correct, and if it's ported, then the ports must be properly tuned, and there's a lot more to. If your getting an enclosure for free, i'd wait until i had the enclosure, and then see what would be suitable for it..
I'm thinking of just saving my money till i can get something like a ALPINE SWR-1242D or something, because i have heard great things from them.
Heard them yourself or just heard people talk about them?
Just go with the type-R . IT will beat any clarion sub anyday.
