hello everyone
whenever the ignition is on or the car is running, alternator whine takes over. it increases with RPM and can only be covered up when the radio is loud enough to drown out the noise.
It is definitely not the speakers, amp, RCA cables to close to power lines. The earth on my head unit is fine also. I was thinking alternator and voltage regulator? i have taken my car apart that many times but no luck finding the problem
can anyone offer a solution?
help anyone?
oh and by the way, the speakers make a "pop" sound when i turn the headlights on?
my mate said something about the headunit ground not being good enough and it is grounding through the ILLUMI wire?
What brand head unit? Pioneer's are know to cause a whining noise when they'e been damaged.
And your mate is right... It's common for people to mistake the dash light illumination wire for ground when testing with a multimeter/test light.
it actually doesnt have a brand. haha.
my brother gave it to me but it actually doesn't have a brand name anywhere on the box or the HU
