    Default Original Negative cabled required?

Is the original negative wire that's going from the battery to wherever it goes there for a special reason? I just changed my battery, and I tried to put a new battery terminal on the negative, and because I was in a rush (my old battery had actually gone dead so I had to put in the new one), I just put the 4ga that I had going to a new earthing point. But when I tried to start the car, nothing happened.

So is the point where the original negative wire grounds too, is that place special for some reason?

If you're not sure what I'm saying then please let me know because I'll need to sort this out ASAP.

    Cheers

You need to make sure you have a fat negative going to the engine, and a fat negative going to the body of the car. Seeing as this is in the car audio thread, I should mention that the cable between your negative battery terminal and the body should be the same, if not thicker than the power cables going to your amps.

    Alright...

I was under the impression that there was only one cable going from the battery negative to somewhere, but maybe that splits off to two different points. I guess I'll just have to extend this somehow and feed it into the new battery terminal too. And yeah I know about the negative having to match the positive to the amps. I am planning on putting 0 gauge down to a distro block for my amps in the boot, and then having around a metre or less of 0 gauge from the battery (-)ve to the chassis somewhere. But thanks, you did answer my question. I have to keep the original grounding points

Technically you don't need to keep the original grounding points. There just needs to be a good ground between the motor and the battery, and the battery and the chassis.
Where they are makes no difference, but they must be good.

Alright then.. That's why it didn't work then, cuz I only had the one from the chassis to the battery, not to the motor too. Where abouts on the motor is the battery negative connected to? I've tried looking but it's a bit hard cuz it goes into the wiring grouping thing.
How do I upgrade it? Where can I connect the negative of the battery to the motor? Or will this not yield much greater results?

You can earth to anywhere on the motor, the original earths are like a lead braided strap, not sure where you'd find them on a VX, on my VP it's found on the passenger side just behind the coil pack, but I've made up an earthing kit for mine and done away with it. Any metal part on the motor will be fine, just make sure you run it out of harms way.
