Gday guys. know theres lots of threads bout guys puttin subs in the ute, but anyone got setups of a makeshift rear speaker housing in a ute?
Dont wanna be one of these blokes that buys an entire cd or tops up and ipod just to hear the exact sound over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. Just like a lil bit more clarity since the from speakers give good bass on there own.
Any ideas post em here, pics welcom
Peace!
Do you want speakers in the tub or in the cab? Reason i ask, is I know a bloke who's put a hard top on his vs ute, with canvas walls so it's like a big arse tent. And to top it all off, threw a 7.1 surround system into the tub.
If tub, then the above option came out insane. If cab, which I'd say is more likely, you have a few options. Depending of course, on your level of commitment.
If you want some basic clarity, stick a decent set of amplified 6.5" splits in the ute. Should have all the mounts in place (tweets on front corners of dash). Amplifier can go in heaps of different spots, not too tough to wire up.
If you're an audiophile put in an amplified set of speakers split 3 ways (6.5" woofer, 4" mid, 2" tweeter), and maybe a single 10" woofer in the center behind the seats. An Alpine deck with imprint would take full advantage of this too.
If you're batshit insane, top of the range Alpine deck (again, with imprint), the 3 way splits mentioned above, and blow $200 a piece on 2 competition level 8"-10" shallow mount subs and put them behind your seats.
I've seen people rip out the headliner, and fiberglass some speaker mounts in. Not sure how that works out with the speaker sitting so close to your head, but whatever floats your boat.
