Default What AMP for KICKER CVR 12" 2DVC (olderstyle)

Hi all i got a older style kicker cvr 12" comp vr dual voice coil's @ 2 omh same as this

RMS Output 200w Per coil (400w)

http://www.suchartsound.co.th/images...ker_compvr.jpg

my question is will a SONY XM-504Z 500w 4/3 channel power amp be good enough
or will i be underpowering the sub i would be running it @ 4omhs

also is there anyway to bridge the other channel ? or anyway i could run my pioneer ts-w300r off it too ? 150w rms singke 4 omh voice coil

thanks

That Sony amp only produces 120wrms when bridged at 4 ohms. Definately not enough to drive the sub properly. It will work OK, but you risk overdriving the amp and sending the sub a clipped signal (not good for the sub).
By the looks of it you wont be able to bridge the other two channels to power the second sub. Although there is another option......you could run the Kicker off two channels at 2 ohm (1 voice coil per channel) and then bridge the remaining two channels to run the Pioneer. But as i said before theres not enough power there to drive the sub properly.

Personally i wouldnt bother running two different subs, but in the end its up to you.

Theres plenty of other brands / models out there that will do the job better. Look at the Jaycar 4 x 100wrms model for example. 380wrms when bridged (both pairs of channels can be bridged) which is enough for your kicker.....then what i would do is get yourself a good pair of front splits and power them off the other two channels, 100wrms is plenty too.

Default Thanks

Thanks for your advice i will look into that amp tommorow when i go into jcar

i should of posted the rest of my system before so ill do it now

head unit is kenwood KRC-950 with 10 stacker

4x JVC CS-HX645 2x in front door 2x in rear shelf

1x pioneer GM-H44 running The JVC speakers

should i just sell the pioneer sub and sony amp and buy a grunty amp to power this sub or should i keep the sony and use it elseware in the car ? like add another set of speakers or drive the JVC's with it and ditch the pioneer amp ? and spend a few $ on the side to get a more suted amp for the kicker

Thanks again sorry if i confused you lol

If your after an alright amp, i recently picked up a Clarion APX1301 Monoblock from Ryda, for $170ish. They were on special and i think they still are. 400RMS @2ohm, good match for the kicker sub you have, and for the money, i think you'd be hard pressed finding much better.
