First thing, get rid of the 6x9s, because you have subs you dont need the extra bass they provide....it'll only "muddy" the bass coming from the subs. Leave the holes in the parcel tray empty for the bass to get through easily.

Secondly, use the Jaycar 2 x 150 to power the front splits....they love the power Get rid of the US amps model and get yourself a good mono to power the subs (like the alpine youve suggested).

Also ditch the 1 farad caps, or keep them knowing they arent that useful. Buy yourself a decent battery (the biggest you ca n fit under the bonnet). Re-do the factory earths under there too.

If you have alot of rear seat passengers then a half decent pair of coaxials would be as far as i'd go. You should be focused more on the front stage. If you do power the Alpine Type Rs off that Response amp it'll produce more than enough volume for everyone in the car, certainly enough to match the bass output too.
Run them on a high pass filter, around 60-70hz.

You "could" just cut the bass freq's going to the 6x9s, but then whats the point of having them?

Good to hear you dont wanna "fill" your car with speakers, thinking the more the better...usually its opposite to that theory.

Good splits (like the Type Rs) and atleast 100wrms each to power them, a decent sub (or two) with 800-1500wrms is all thats needed to get VERY loud and takes up minimal room / dosent distract from a nice car like yours.

The processors are not really required if you have a good head-unit. The top Alpine models have time alignment and an eq that takes over an hour to set properly, not to mention a very decent crossover.
Processors are common with SQ systems, designed to "equalise" the flaws or peaks in the frequency response of speakers / subwoofers. In your case i wouldnt bother spending extra cash on one, in my opinion is much better spent on a good battery (ie Optima Yellow Top).

i ve got the battery cheif already its in the shed there was no point it in a standard clubby so i guess the sub amp is the only real decisson at the moment then and id say the alpine 1000 wins out at the moment

Yeh the Alpine 1000wrms mono is a good choice, looks good and the build quality is great. Just make sure your subs can be wired to produce a 2 ohm load on the amp. If you already have the subs, what model number are they?

I think they are the dual 4 ohm voice coil version, which means 1 ohm or 4 ohm load to the amp. You really have three options here:

    * Run the amp at 4 ohms, which means the amp will only put out 600wrms (300wrms to each speaker). This will be fine, but youre not getting the full potential from the amp. Basically youre paying for a 1000wrms amp and only getting 600wrms from it.

    * Use only 1 of your subs to produce a 2 ohm load to the amp, which means 1000wrms to it.....although the sub wont need that much at all

    * Look at another brand of amplifier, i'll start having a look at some alternatives that rival the Alpine for price and quality.

Ive had abit of a search and they are 4 ohm DVC subs, so using two of those sub you can either have a load of 1 ohm or 4 ohm. They may be talking about only 1 sub in the manual?

Are you talking about f/glass moulded enclosures for the rear quarter panel?

    Ebay is your friend....

NEW VY VZ Holden Commodore Fibreglass Enclosure - eBay Subwoofers, Audio, Video, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 15-Jul-09 19:57:20 AEST)

I have done them before, but as i dont make them up all that often i havent got a proper mold etc. Would take time a fair amount of money......if you get the one above for under $350 it'll be cheaper than i'd charge, provided its nice a strong too.
