hey ummm.. ive got a vt s1 berlina,, and atm all my speakers are stock but ive got an aftermarket deck running.. and my rear right speaker isnt working no matter what i do.. ive checked all the wires comming off of the deck and they are all hooked up correctly... and i also took the speaker out of the door and it looked fine.. it was pluged in and didnt have any dammage on it at all. i also tried another speaker in the door but it still did not work.. so ive concluded that it must be my wiring going to the door.. was wondering if its easy to run new wires or if any one has had this problem before? any help is much appreaciated, cheers
Get another old speaker or one from another door and hook that up into that wiring. If the replacement speaker works then its the speaker itself.
My mates VZ ute had issue with drivers door speaker this week. We popped the door trim off and put a little old speaker there to test and that worked....plugged the original one back in and it didnt work. So he went and upgraded to new speakers. He now has MB Quart speakers to go in. They will be a massive upgrade from the factory 20w standard units.
yer i already tried that dude .. i wired a spare 6x9 that i have and jammed the wires in the end of the stock speaker plug... still didnt work..
its pretty straightforward to run new wiring, itll just run under the plastic along the side of the car. The hardest part is threading the wire through the rubber in between the car body and the door. I found the best way was to tape a small bit of steel rod to the end of the wire and thread that through first.
cheers man,, just a quick question will i have to take my whole dash apart to run new wires??? i could take the plastic side things off and tap into the speaker wires to c if they arnt broken at that point then run new ones from there,, but thats if the wire is stuffed from there.,, will i have to pull my whole dash apart if the problem wire is behind the dash?
Yeah, tap into the stock wiring in the sill panels, but before you got running the wire through the door jamb just temporarily hook up some wiring and a working speaker to see if it works. If it dosent work then you'll have to remove the aftermarket unit and run new wiring from there. Its fairly easy to run it through the dash and down through the kick panel etc, just find / follow an exisiting loom etc. and cable tie the new wiring where needed.
I would imagine the wiring is either broken in the door jamb itself, or inside the door.
150db in a commodore =
cheers for the advice man,, yer id expect the wiring to have broken in the door, or in the connector tube thingy cos that would be the most exposed area.. thanx again
make new wiring best thing to do is rewire all speakers and u wil get a better sound promise u!
