Default Fused or non Fused distibution block?

    Hi,
i am upgrading my system and running two amps for the moment, and i am buying my distribution blocks and i dont know if i should get fused or not fused? Both are gold plated. I will be running 1 4awg to 2 8awg.
    Any help would be great,
    thanks.

Its always safer to go fused. A fused 4awg to 2x8awg will only set you back about $15, then another couple dollars for fuses

The fuse in the distro block is there in case the 9ga wire gets grounded, so any fuse under the 8ga current limit is fine. As you'll see from the link below, 52A is 8ga current limit.

    Thanks for that mate,
was just wondering.. what happens if i run an 8awg power cable <1m in length from the distro block to an amp that's fuses are 60amp?
Will it not get enough power?
    cheers.

really you should be running slightly bigger wire, if the system is goin to be pumpin out sum power, ie havin ur music crankin most of the time.

Your amp at full can pull 60amp n tha 8g is only rated at 50amp, the insulation mite melt n short, it will melt nicely

That extra 10A won't cause melting, it will just cause a little heat and some voltage drop... Ideally you'd use larger wire though.
What size wire inputs are on the amps? That's usually a good guide of what size wire to use.

at the moment i'm just using two 4x50wrms amps, both bridged at 125wrms x 2 at 4ohms. they only need 25amps. but when i get my new monoblock & subs, thats when i will have a bigger amp needing the extra power. so should i just go with the 8awg until i get a new monoblock then upgrade to 4awg to amps?
    Thanks for the help.
