Hey i got a Blaupunkt 18" sub that does 5400w (VPw 460) and a 3000w fusion amp (PP-AM300010) I had it in a huge box that doubled as a couch in the back of the van and it was pretty average but still did the job. now the van has died though and so im looking for a new home. I'm hoping to put it in the boot of my calais, am i being brave or an idiot?
It can be done... But did it sound that good? Do you think it's worth putting in?
If the sound quality is good it would be sick as..... i mean how sweet would it be to pop the boot to revel an 18INCH sub..
But then again that would probably be all you could fit in there??
the sound quality in the old one is average. iv been doing some research and found out that i made it crap which probably caused half the problems. i thought a ported box was just a case of cutting holes in the thing but apparently its way more intense than that.
does anyone know the dimensions of a VX boot?
optimal sealed box size for that sub is ~90L. Ported is ~133L, tuned to 25hz
Definitely do-able![]()
what does that mean? will it be crap if i have a box bigger than 90l and how on earth do i tune a box to 25hz?
It wont be crap if it bigger than the 90l, its just the smallest box that sub will work well in and give a flattish frequency response (good for music).
The 25hz tuning refers to the port itself, the diameter and depth of the port determines the tuning frequency. Generally a lower tuning frequency gives a flatter frequency response.

You use google to learn all about box design... Or pay an installer who already knows that stuff to do it for you.
