Give some more info and maybe people can help you diagnose the fault...

    Both side?

    On radio and CD?

Does the static increase in volume when you change the volume or stay the same?

    What equipment are you running?

Even though you run your music off your iPod, have you tried radio and CD to see if the noise still exists?

First thing I'd check is that your head unit ground wire is ground properly. Might be even worth running a new ground wire from the head unit loom to a screw/bolt on the car chassis somewhere.

The speakers won't be causing the noise unless you played the tweeters really loud and damaged them.

Do the ground on your head unit and let us know if you still have the noise.
