Default Power antenna not working with alpine head unit

having trouble with just one thing on my new alpine head unit, i cant figure out for the life of me what i have to do to get the power antenna to work. there is one power antenna lead on the unit and 3 possible leads on my VT series 2 that it could be. yellow/red is meant to be for the antenna, but that wont work, neither will blue or white that are meant to be antenna up and down. i just have no idea what to do to get this little bugger working, it would be awesome if i could get some help, thanks guys!

Is there power coming out of the antenna wire (on your head-unit)?

Check this by turning the h/u on and testing the wire with a test light or mulitmeter, you might need to have the radio on for this and not the cd player but i think the Alpines leave the antenna up for cds etc anyway.

I assume the power antenna worked fine before the new head-unit?

I think you should get a mp3 player that has radio capabilities because aerials ruin the look of the car
