    Default VX rear speaker steup

    Hi guys,

Im just about to upgrade my stock audio setup in my vx and im just wondering from experience is it better to go 6 x 9's in the rear parcel or splits in the rear doors? Ill be putting splits in the front definetly but I currently have no intention to put a sub in.

    Cheers!

If you're definitely not getting a sub, you'll want 6x9's to get a little bit of 'bass'.

Don't buy by brand... Listen and buy what sounds good.

I've always seen Rockford as an overpriced brand in Australia compared to the other mainstream brands (it's much cheaper in the US compared to the other mainstream brands).

How much are you looking to spend? Go to a few specialist car audio stores and see what some random brand name speakers sound like.

Im looking to spend about $150 - $200 tops i reckon that should be enough to get a decent set.

    Hey mate.
not long since "finished" installing 2 6x9's in the parcel shelf in my VX. easy job. can do in just over half a day.

All i done was pulled the rear seat, took the shelf liner out (about 4plugs and one bolt). You'll notice some premade cutouts there for you... big hit with the palm of your hand, or small tap from a hammer and they'll come out nicely. only thing is you will have to drill your own holes for the speakers, but really not a problem.

A little tip, if you can get your hands on some thin spungy foam of some kind, line the rim of the hole with it where the speaker will touch the frame. The speakers tend to rattle a bit when its metal to metal i found.

i ran my wires behind the rear righthand passenger seat, below the door tread for the rear righthand passenger and driver. seems to follow another wiring loom quite nicely.

I also installed an Amp in the boot on the bottom part of the parcel shelf, between the two speakers. fits nicely.

My complete set up cannot be seen from outside, and requires you to bend down and really look inside the boot to see the anything.

You can cut out the parcel shelf liner and put in some speaker grills, but isnt really needed (I didnt bother) as sound quality and volume is still great without.

Very nice thanks for the info was wondering how they were fitted was it a 2 channel amp you fitted between the speakers or a 4? Can you get some pre-made of foam or sound dampening for it so it stops rattling or just make it yourself?
