Another "what sub to buy" thread

I'm in the market for a 10" sub around the $250 mark, looking at SQ more than anything else.

Today I went and had a listen to a Polk Audio (insert model here) one that I can get for $250, a Diamond (GM3???) for $270 or the model below that for $200, just to give you an idea what I'm looking at.

I'll be making a trip down to Freeway Car audio in the next few days, as well as going back tomorrow to listen to those Diamond ones in my car tomorrow.

What else do the gurus here recommend I look at?

I've had a listen to them in a shop and wasn't 100% convinced, but then I'm really fussy.

Should also mention that it will be going in a sealed box opposite the spare wheel firing across the boot. I'll build the box when I get the sub so volume isn't really an issue yet.

Also, it will be getting around 500wrms, but plans are to upgrade the amp in the near future as well

I can get things cheaper at a place that sells Kenwood gear since a mate of mine will be buying a kenwood amp and 4 speakers at the same time and every place we have been to has offered us a deal

Noone had a DD sub today that I could listen to, but each place I went to said that they weren't great for SQ, but will go bloody loud.

Who has used Rockford Fosgate P2 or P3's? I had a listen to the 12" P2 and it seems alright.
Leaning towards the Diamond D610 though

I put RF in power cat, same as DD, bloody loud, no so good sq, these were p1 n p2's i listened to, T2 was better, but still not wat i was expecting.

There's one of these for sale on MEA atm, guy wants $300 for it. Should satisfy your SQ desires. They retail at $450.

If only it was in Melbourne! I have a feeling by the time I got that down here it would be a bit more than I could afford.
2LOUD2OLD said good things about the peerless one, but I forgot to ask at any places today whether they could get them in.

If I can get a good deal on that Diamond one when my mate buys his gear then I might well be sold
