I've recently bought 2 10inch Rampage subs and a Clarion APX1301 monoblock AMP, Now... The amp was installed all good, power cable, earthing, Remote turn on and RCA cables ETC...
HOWEVER i got ye old speaker cable out hooked up 2 subs like you should, rechecked everything but the EFFING subs are not working.
I DO know that the subs are not blown as before installation they were used with the surround sound in my room.
So is there any way the speaker cable or bloody anything would be holding them back from working, I can supply pics of the setup if anyone would like them to help me out.
I also thought there might be some gay problem with the RCA OUTPUT from the back of the headdeck as insted of the plain ol rca output it has 'Rear out, Front out' and Sub W out' but im just thinking out loud here.
any help would be greatly appreciated
CHEERS!!!!

Yer show us some pics, and we will see if anything stands out.
And am i right in assuming youve got the monoblock hooked up to Sub W Out?
If you have the RCAs hooked up to the "sub out" on the headunit (like you should) then theres a good chance you will have to turn on the sub channel on the headunit. At least thats the way it is on my Pioneer unit.
What headunit are you running?
Does the power light on the amp turn on?

Yeah RCA is plugged into SubW out and the Sub is turned on through the head unit, and yeah the amp light is on, i tested every lead on the amp individually to see what it could be, no light without ground.. obviously, no light without remote turn on or power lead, so there all in, the lights on, so its something to do with the in and out of the audio
check your crossovers on the amp, might have the high pass on instead of the low pass
Ive checked and re-checked the X-over, and as to anywires touching, when i was installing it all i double checked all the wirings when i finshed for anything like that, so im stumped, ill hook up photos of the entire set up 2moro for a bit more of an insider
Check to make sure the speaker wiring is properly connected to the subs (sometimes they can come undone inside the box).
I would try connecting the RCAs to either the front or rear outputs on the head-unit, may be also worthwhile to try another set of RCAs?

I was going to suggest the wires in the sub box as well.
Then it wouldn't hurt to try hooking up any old speaker you have lying around and seeing if that works

Dunno if it's an issue, but I haven't got my sub connected with that sort of speaker wire. Mine's connected with a big blue cable.
Hope that helps,
Chris.
Mate that wiring for the subwoofers, at the amp youve got the two negative wires (the ones with the black stripe) going to the far side (in the 5th pic) + and - of the amp. The two positive wires are going to the + and - of the nearest terminal in that pic.
Then at the box terminals it looks like youve got each pair of speaker cable going to each sub?
If im right this means youve got one sub hooked up to both of the negative outputs of the amp and the other sub hooked up to both the positive outputs of the amp?

Are the fuses on the amp still good? It might be the photos playing funny buggers but at least one looks blown
I have always used bigger speaker wire for subs as well but it should still work I guess.
EDIT: Ahh, I missed that one Holdenboy. Too busy moving my car out of the hail

I'd hope there intact, what would be the odds of a brand spankin new amp coming with EFFED fuses, however if the fuses were gone, wouldnt the amp just not work?¿
if so i guess ill try new fuses, if still nothing, i shall get myself to audiotech and send a questionmark there way
The amp is turning on so its not a power/ rem / earth / fuse problem.
The xover and gain settings.....theyre on minimum right? Try turning them up to around 1/2 on both.
The only other ting i could suggest is trying another set of RCA cables...

I thought gain, xo and bass boost were all flat out looking at that picture, but even then try turning them down to half and boost off because that will be too high.
As Holdenboy said before as well, the speaker wire should be + to + and - to - on both channels. Even try just getting one of them to work maybe

Looks like there might be a few strands of speaker wire crossing over there as well. Make sure nothing can touch anything it shouldnt

if u plug the rcas to the rear out instead of sub out, of the headunit to try it.. does it work?
if not, try using the hi inputs to see if that works..
u use the speaker wire from the head unit and it plugs into the hi plug on the amp. coz the speaker wires have a higher voltage than rca's.
so headunit speaker outs -> to amp hi input.
narrow it down to 1 sub plugged in, u can also try 1 speaker (not sub) wired to the amp to see if it works too, rules out the subs
YABBA DABBA DOO, All working now, got around the checking out the entire system, and there was a fault in the speaker wiring, the sheath of both positive and negative wires were split where the wires are stuck together, so got more wire of the 100m reel I have, SAME ****ING THING, the wires were shittely made, took the C*&T back, got new wires, WOOT, all working. Thanks for all your guys help
