as the title says i wanna get some splits and was wondering whether i could run them through the amp that powers my subs or whether i need a second amp and if so how do i wire it?
cheers
bradd
i got my sub running through the rear option in my amp so if i run the splits through the front will these be adjusted while using the adjustments on my head unit?
What amp do you have firstly?

i got an avalanche av800.....not the best but does the job
And what subs are you using?
You should be able to run the 2 subs in parallel (2ohm) off the rear channel and the splits off the front, and if you run another set of RCAs from the headunit for the splits (assuming you have 2 pre-outs) then you should still have control of both sub and splits from the headunit.
The disadvantage of this being that the subs will be getting bugger-all power.
That amp isn't particularly massive, so if you definately want to keep both subs it is doable, but you might be better off getting a mono-block for the subs and keeping the avalanche for your speakers

im running one pioneer 12 inch sub and can control that off my head unit but was wondering whether i need to run another thing of rca's so that when i turn the sub down in the rear out put it doesnt turn off the front out put
Yes, you would need to run another set of RCAs to be able to control the splits seperately.
On the back of the headunit, how many sets of RCA outs do you have? Even just a model number would help
If it is just the 1 sub then you could probably get away with bridging the rear channel for the sub and then the fronts for the splts. I guess that would give about 200?wrms for the sub, so it depends how loud you have it whether you need more or not.

ok my head unit is a kenwood kdc-mp243 and i think it only has 1 preout but i have another 400 watt amp here to use but i have no clue how to wire the 2
This one?: Kenwood - KDC-MP243
According to that, you only have 1 rca out, and it is switchable between sub/rear.
The only way I can think of setting that up on that headunit is to set it to rear, use the LPF on the amp for the subs, and high-pass the splits so you use the bass eq on the head unit to control the sub level (not ideal).
Being in a ute, are you only running the splits, or do you have rear speakers as well?
