Question sub in parcel shef (simple plz lol)

hi all, i was wondering, how would i go about mounting 2 subs in parcel shelf? would i need an enclosure? will the boot act as one? im thinking its way to big and leaky ect, just wondering, plz simplify it for me, and what are ohms? i hear it often about it killing subs when done wrong and want to learn about it thanks

Ohms is a unit of resistance. If you think of electricity as a river, the Ohms are rocks which slow the water down.

That's probably the most simple way I could put it, anyone else care to add?

You will need free-air subs, unless you want to build an enclosure.

This is not a simple questions, there are many variables. But lets start with how much do you want to spend?

i have sub woofers already, they are free air as it says on the magnet, i have a 2 channel 800w mono-block amp, and a 200w 2channel amp, i sony head unit, and i can wire it all up myslef as i have done already, im more curious than willing to do it, and itl be alot quieter with out enclosure for my sub woudnt it?

and the ohms explinaton was to complicated, im lost, haha kidding thanks clears it up for me, basicly less ohms the better yes? and most common lowest ohms is 2?

Also worth making sure you realise that cutting holes in the parcel shelf (which you WILL have to do) is illegal, unsafe in a collision and VERY expensive and difficult to make legal again when you get caught.

As long as you wire the subs to give the right "ohms" to the amp then you won't have problems with it. When you get the gear post them up here and we can let you know how to hook them up

Free-air subs (don't need a box) are likely to be expensive as well, and you will need to seal the parcel shelf completely from the boot for them to work well (as far as I know)

Basically your right, not worth the trouble. A decent set of 6x9s" will give as much bass as two 8" subs in the tray.

Smart. Then one day the car's involved in an accident and your insurance company won't cover you because your car is unroadworthy. They will find any way out they can. It's not worth it.

Seriously, are you digging up every thread JC has ever had about this subject?
There is a reason (or many) that everyone says it's a no go. If you feel so strongly about it then do it in your car and let us know how sik bro it is

EDIT: Oh yeah, it IS school holidays *sigh*
