you wont have alot of luck changing the head unit in the VE just yet mate!

if you want to run subs you can either get a line level convertor, which taps into the speaker wires to get and rca signal...

or buy an amp with a speaker level input.

all the settings will have to be set on the amp to get the most out of it, as tapping into the speaker wires will make the BASS on the deck control the subs and speakers! same with the FADER.

You will not be putting 12 inches subs in the parcel shelf as it will not fit unless cutting metal that will make the car unroadworhty. Higher models use two 8 inche woofers in the shelf. There is a massive amount of space in your boot to accomodate 2 12 inch subs in an enclosure and plenty of suitcases. You can use the factory unit as mentioned by mr sikma. Using a high quality ( LOC or a Peripheral, American International with audio sensing ) 2 channel line level converter as well as an amplifier with a bass boost controller mounted to the left and down from your steering wheel is reccomended to get the best control from your factory Unit.

Appreciate you trying to help but your reply is a bit vague and not technically correct.

Yes lots of luck changing head units on a VE , heres some pics of ones i have done myself, although i have done a few now, its not easy to do so use a professional.

Tapping speaker wires will not make the bass on the deck control the subs and speakers. The deck produces sound ( some being bass ) sending it through your speakers ( being all speakers ). Even an aftermarket system's bass control will boost the bass output to your ears from the sub as well as the sub control. Dont even wanna think what your talking about with the fader!!!!

what should have been said is that its always harder to achieve a balance of sound output through a factory units pre amplifier with one added by an aftermarket amp running a sub. Invariable depending on the amplifier setting you will always feel that there is too much bass output or not enough and or not happy with the other speakers sound quality.

    Hey Luke0011,

Where are those pics you mentioned above for the VE head unit? I'm curious to see how you ended up doing that...

    Cheers
