what power amp should i buy???????? i am very lost LOL
can i mount the amp on to the sub box? but was going to put it on back seat maybe
i am trying to stay under 300-400 dollar budget but yeah lol
if any one could put links if possible so i can find easily
thanks
A mono block is preferable, how ever you can use a 2 channel, provided it had a LPF(low pass filter) and is the correct ohm rating to that of your sub. Is you sub a single, or dual voice coil? Best if you just post the model number that way we can check for you if you are unsure.
Here's one which would be suitable, i currently have the same amp, and i've used it to run a few different subs, and currently run an Alpine Type R from it. Ryda Car Audio - Clarion Car Audio APX1301 Car Amplifier($172.20) Would also leave you with enough from your budget to purchase a wiring kit, and an enclosure if you havent already got them.
Pretty cheap at $170, and i've haven't had a single problem with it in about 6 months of owning it now. I'm actually planning on buying another one soon, to power a second sub. It's only one suggestion anyways...
As far as mounting goes, you can mount the amp on the sub box if you wish, however, it's not reccomended, due to the vibrations caused by the sub.
i dont know exactly the model number but looked on kenwood site and it KFC-W3012
also i found a sub box on ebay atm with neon and comes with a sub lol a spare and use the box
should i get 4 or 8 gauge wiring kit?
ill mount the sub on the back seat.
thanks
4 guage definitely. I have some amps lying around which I can sell for cheap or I have higher quality amps on my website, I will post up about the amps I have soon.
Ok, the sub is a single voice coil, 4ohm, rated at 400 watt RMS.
The box your reffering to on Ebay, would probably be a waste of money. I'm assuming it's a cheap one, with a perspex face which allows you to see the neons. You need to match a sub box, to the specifications of the sub as listed by the manafactuer. Manafctuer reccomends 0.75-1.75 cubic feet for a sealed enclsure, and 1.0-2.0 cubic feet for a ported enclsure. Their not very specific dimensions though, however i'd reccomend around 1.0 cubic feet for sealed, and 1.5- 1.75 for ported..
Build your own box if possible. Works so much better.
I have to test the amplifiers I have in my personal stock. Test bench is setup and I will get back to you tomorrow. I have 2 amplifiers that do 400rms @ 4ohm so they might suite you perfectly.
