So, Looking at an upgrade to my system. Budget is $4-5k and will be doing the installation myself..
Currently have 500WRMS running to a 12" alpine type r.
Speakers are alpine splits & coax running 100wRMS each.
Can anyone offer any suggestions? I had a thread typed up with all of my current gear but i lost it before being able to post!
Cause I'm at work now, I'll do a proper writeup later. But basically after some hard hitting bass, car is going to be a cruiser/daily -- So going to dump it on 20's. Should be sweet.
AFAIK the speakers should be OK, Perhaps I'll look at upgrading those later on?
Just got an optima D34/78 to install too, may need another one if i end up pushing a lot of power?
With that sort of budget you could create a beastly system. Are you aiming for sound quality or tremendous volume?

With that sort of budget why couldn't he have both?![]()

Not competing DBDrags or anything but wouldn't mind 138+DB.![]()
Youre budget is $4-5k and you wanna keep the stock speakers?
Man i could get you 145db+ with that budget, thats 4x as loud as 138db
In all seriousness, are you after a proper show-quality installation (custom f/glass boot, 2pac paint etc etc) or more towards the pure audio side? Maybe abit of both?
150db in a commodore =
I have alpine type R splits in the front, and their type r coax speakers in the rear, not stock speakers :P.
I don't care for a "show" installation, just a NEAT install
Just had the optima battery installed (new terminals too), old sub hits harder, I never measured the voltage drop, my headlights made that evident.
