Hey guys,
I have an alpine deck with l+r pre outs going to a monoblock amp, what I need now are some good Subwoofers - i was told to go with 2x 12" subs.
I have run 4 gauge cabling to the amp too.

My questions are:
What subwoofers should I get that will give me the kick and are still good on the budget.
I have been told to go for 2x 12" subs
I have no clue at the moment as to what subs i should get for my amp.
My mate has the 2x 12" kicker comp subs in a box that JB Hifi are selling for $419
Car Sound Sub Woofers
but on the site it says that they are 600 watts PEAK and only 300 watts RMS at 4 ohms, my amp at 4 ohms would be double the power of the subs...?
Cheers heaps,
MattyC

I would recommend either going with 2x dual 4 ohm subs or 1x dual 2 ohm. That way you can get the load down to 1 ohm wiring in parallel to make full use of that amp.
For $420 I'd forget about those kickers. Check out what the forum sponsor shoppingsecure can do for ya, guaranteed you'll end up with better value than those awful kicker comp subs.

If you were buying 2x DVC 4ohm subs. You would wire them in parallel. See below for more information.

1000rms? Now we are talking!
If you want a single 15" (probably the cheapest way to get some serious bass):
Shopping Secure - SPL Dynamics XTR-380D2
Thats going to need a custom box but if built correctly that thing will make some serious bass!
As for 12" woofers I would be leaning towards a single really mean woofer.
For sound quality: VIBE - Space CBR12 Enclosure
That will come in at $599
For ground pounding bass: www.spldynamics.fi
That will come in at $650 but will require a box, once again in the right box it will be insane.
If those are too expensive just let me know and I will find something cheaper but to be honest with that much power you will want to take advantage of every drop!
Thanks to all who reccomended me, I appreciate all of your support!

Yep i second the suggestion of a SPL Dynamics XTR380D2 15" sub, put it in a nice sealed enclosure and you'll be very surprised with the output, not only low bass but punchy too.....i feed 2000wrms+ into each of my XTR 15s and they love it!!!!!
