head unit has no memory..

When i turn my vs off but leave the key in the ignition, then turn it back on all my settings are still there,
but if i remove the key its all reset...

have you put the memory wire to straight power all the time even when your key is out of the ignition (in other words straight to the postive of battery or a wire that has power all the time

get a multimeter, and check that you have 12v on the 12v power input to the headdeck when the car is on. then remove the key, and make sure power is still there

I was just thinking that thats probably it.. (Forgot the obvious)
Ill have a look at it later on..

your constant power will be on an accessories wire, meaning it looses all settings every time the car is turned off.
