How you going guys, i just performed the RCA pre out mod on my headunit, and im getting a crap load of engine noise now. I had originally used gold plated metal RCA connectors with a common ground shared amongst the casing of the headunit, but had heaps of engine noise.
I then changed it to RCA plugs on leads (rather than attatched to the case) with there own grounds, and im still getting engine noise!
Ive plugged my iphone straight into my headunit and theres no noise like that, so its definately in the headunit somewhere!
Im doing this because i wanna keep the stock look of the car.
So if any of you have done this mod, how did you overcome this issue?
ok so you have connected a preout to an ipod. Please explain a little further. Im assuming you did a line level auxillary input mod to your stock head unit, not and rca pre out. or you hooked up some amps and just pluggeg the iphone in to see if it would remove noise. maybe its working like a shorting plug????
This is the mod i performed on my headunit.
VT/VX Low Series Head Unit RCA
I first did it exactly like he did, with the gold RCA plugs on the casing, then i switched it over to RCA connectors on leads (like any normal RCA connector) that werent attatched to the casing. Still having the same problem
