    Default Something not right

Hopefully someone on here can give me a heads up on the issue i am having at the moment with my system. I am running a Sony XAV-W1 headunit, Kicker DS600.2 6" Component in the front doors, Polk DB651 6.5" coaxials in the rear door (not connected at present though) all running off Kenwood KAC-m645 4 channel amp. I have no speakers connected at all to the headunit wiring loom, only off the amp using the rca's for front/rear/sub. Everything works fine ( as far as i am aware ) for the radio and cd, but as soon as i play a dvd, it doesnt sound right at all. It plays, but the sound is all the background noise, nothing to do with talking, and if you do here talking, it is very very faint and tinny sounding. If anyone has some ideas, i am more than willing to listen.

    Cheers

Hmm...I'm going to have a wild guess and ask if theres a way to tell it that you only want the dvd output to be in stereo instead of 5.1 surround (assuming you have the amp connected to the component out).

Could be because of an extreme lack of sleep but I really can't think of what it could be apart from something in the guts of the headunit considering cds work fine

EDIT: Sucked in Stonex, beat you by a good 10 seconds at least

Sounds like the head unit is outputing 5.1 and you have no centre channel... See if you can find the setting to make it output 2 channel rather than 5.1.

You'll have to read your instructions... Some units use one of the RCAs for the centre channel, others have a dedicated speaker output from the head unit. Then you'll need to get a centre speaker and work out how to mount it

alpine makes a self amped single din centre speaker that you can hook to their head units...maybe they work on sony aswell or there is an equivalent.
Need some parts for my VH 253:
Green standard steering wheel...Green lower B-pillar covers.
Green sunglasses holder/lower dash bits...Air-con and assorted engine bay parts.
    PM with any info.

The headunit I just bought (not yet installed) has an output on the back for the centre channel, or you can run it off the internal shitty amp and it just has a centre channel with the rest of the speaker wires out the back
