so i moved my sub box with the twin subs in the boot. i had to take the subs out to get to my 6 inch speakers. in the process i unwired the subs with the power off.. mucked around with my amp settings ie hi/low pass and the gains, frequencies and the rest. and now my subs arnt half as loud and they distort when i try to fix the problem with my amp...
im running my cadence Q12-2 subs and front splits off a cadence 4 channel Q drive amplifier..
none the less i was wondering if anyone could help me with this problem..
cheeers in advance..

If they have been wired up excatly how they were before you took them out then you have made an error with the amp settings.
On the amplifier make sure the gain settings are set to MIN and the bass boost is set to MIN. Set the crossover to LPF (Low Pass Filter) and also set that to MIN. Use that as a reference point and tune from there.

should there be an exact way to wire them up? as the installers used the same coloured wiring for both subs.. therefore me getting confused..
i believe theres two positives from the amp to the sub. and then a separate piece of wire that goes from the negative of one sub to the other.. that make sense/sound right?

Take a picture of it when the sun comes up, that should put us all on the same page.

Two positives? If your subs are linked in the middle, they're wired in series. The amp would be bridged across 2 channels to run those subs at 4 ohm.
There should be a positive and negative wire to the amp. You'll need to look at the amp or the amp's manual to find out which terminals to use when bridging.
theres a wire that doesnt go to the amp at all.. it was just connected from one negative on the sub. to the other negative on the sub.. with the two wires coming from the amp going into the positives on each sub..
i havnt got the manual. as my system got custom installed and they didnt give me the manual etc..

Edit.....StoneX you beat me
Anyway yes i could well be the reason why the subs are performing poorly, rewire them like the pic and see how that goes.

150db in a commodore =
From your description you have the negatives linked and then the positives to the amp... Having the negatives linked means the speakers are out of phase for starters so the subs are moving in opposite directions and making hardly any bass.
Then you have the 2 positives connected on the amp, this is not usually how you bridge an amp so you're probably linking 2 channels that shouldn't be linked. You need to find out how your amplifier is meant to be bridged.
What model amplifier is it?
Manual is here: http://www.cadencestore.com/cadence_...p%20Manual.pdf
How the sub should be wired is below. See you use the + and the - on the amp, not 2 +'s.
re wired the subs up & fixed the amps settings up.everything works a treat now! thankyou to everyone that contributed to me fixing it..
