Hi all, first time poster. I drive a 2005 Commodore Lumina.
95% of the time when I removed my key from the ignition and open the driver door, the radio/ CD player will cut out.
However from time to time I notice that the radio or CD player will stay on after I remove the key and open the door, and even after I have gotten out and locked the vehicle.
Is this normal behaviour for this model? Is there a setting that I have inadvertently activated?
If this is not normal can anyone suggest where the solution lies. Electrical fault?
Thanks
Chris
I'd be looking at a faulty door switch, try changing it with the passengers side switch and see if that fixes the problem
Power is measured in DECIBEL
Mine does exactly the same! If you turn the car off, I can often hear a relay clicking under the dash and the radio will be turning off and on again until it finally finishes on one (usually on). Pretty crap cos the wipers are also hooked up to the radio power circuit. So if you get out quick and hit the buttons, it comes back on later and you come back to a car with radio and wipers ON!
I have an aftermarket sony phone kit installed in the car. No prizes for guessing what the dealers said causes it when I asked them about it. I have had one sparky tell me that the fault could also be in the radio. Im wondering if changing the headset (want to get an aftermarket bluetooth one with AV input if poss) will maybe sort this out.
Anyone come across this before? Seems weird...
You may need to put a diode inline on you ACC feed to the radio as any load fault to 12v- will trigger the the ACC to stay on![]()
Cheers,
Dave
would probably tend to agree with Kal also. One thing that will help point to it is if the fan on the AC continues to run also...
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!
will the fan be on the radio circut? i know in earlier commodores the fan was only on with the ignition on, might have changed though, dont know.
yea, if other stuff is turning on, or staying on, such as wipers or interior light or any other accesories thing (cigarette lighter maybe) then its something with the car, wiring or ignition barrel or any number of things, if its only the headunit coming on, and nothing else at all, then it could be just the headunit playing up.
from memory, there is a setting for leaving the radio on without the keys, but it should be consistant, eg, always stay on, or always go off. i remember mums vy having something like this, but it was awhile ago...
