Hey just wondering what in your opinions would be the best stereo system for a VY Berlina Series 2 with a budget of about $1500.. give or take a couple hundred.
Well, your not going to get many replies, because you haven't given us any info other than the budget, and the type of vehicle. What are you after, overall sound quality imrpovement, lots of bass ect? Will you be installing it yourself?Do you have space to sacrifice?Do you want to purchase all your products from a local store, or are you open to purchasing online?, the list goes on..
But anyways, if i was spending $1500 for someone who didn't know a whole lot about car audio, or where to begin, this is probably what i would be reccomending to them, with a setup aimed at an overall increase in sound quality, without sacrificing too much space, with a head unit that has a suitable list of features..
Head unit- $250 09 PIONEER DEH-P5150UB MP3 CD RECEIVER USB + IPOD CABLE - eBay Players, Audio, Video, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 27-Oct-09 14:48:17 AEDST) You won't find it at this in a local store though, you'll need to buy online, from a store such as this one..
Front speakers- $150 A lot better than you would think for this price. Shopping Secure - Car Audio Specialists - SPL Dynamics SD-6.2
Front speaker amp- $300 Shopping Secure - Car Audio Specialists - Option Audio OAA160
Sub $350 Good all round 10'' Shopping Secure - Car Audio Specialists - SPL Dynamics XTR-250D2
Sub amp $400 (some one correct me if i'm wrong here)That sub wired in parralell will allow you to run this amp at a 1ohm load, which will deliver around 800RMS Shopping Secure - Car Audio Specialists - Option Audio OAX801
Total, $1450 add wiring, enclosure, instalation, (you did say give or take a few hundred. That's obviously just one example. The could build the whole system for less, if you wanted to use cheaper components.
But like i said, it comes down to what your after, you may not want/need sub, and threfore you could spend more on your front stage, head unit, ect. There's also the option of modifying your existing factory head unit, so you can add on external amplifiers, to run your components, however this won't allow for as much tuning capability, compared to a decent aftermarket unit.
Also keep in mid, when asking for opinions on brands, components, setups ect, reccomending audio components for other people can be a difficult thing. What sounds good to me, may not suit other's listening needs quite as well.

That would certainly be a good combination. Good volume and good punch so it would be suitable for a large variety of musical tastes.
