hey all, I'm new hear and would like some help/tips with setting up my stereo system. All I have so far is a JBL Px300.4 amplifier I got given as a gift. It's rated at 123.5W RMS x 4 @ 4 ohms and 1%THD on the box but on the back of owners manual it says output power @ 4 ohms is 75W x 4 so now i'm confused about what speaker power I should go for? There seems to be so many different factors to consider and i'm an absolute dummy in this subject. I got in mind to get a pair of 6.5" component speakers for the front and 6x9/7x10 for rear shelf. but as far as RMS matching goes I'm not sure what to look for now with not bein sure what this amp will power. anyone have any ideas? cheers.
I would just go with the smaller number. Thats more than enough power to run a set of splits in the front and 6x9s in the rear but only if your not planning on running a subwoofer.
I can help you with the selection of speakers if you would like as well, its my job afterall![]()

Looks like 4x123.4wrms @ 4 ohms to me
That would be ideal for a set of good splits in the front, and 6x9's for the back if you don't want to run a sub

1% THD is quite high so i'd head for a lower power hungry speaker.. anything around 75w rms is going to be a nice sounding speaker anyway...
