you'd need to customise the dash a fair bit, single din units hardly fit in there well.

i have a single din in there now, what im thinking ofn doint is with the speedo and all that is getting a piece of MDF and wrapping it in vinyl and putting autometer gauges in whein i can afford it so i might do that as well where the stereo goes, then again it might look like sh!t where the stereo goes, im going to look in SC budget builds when i find it because i saw a car in there and ill scan it when i can find it and get back to you guys

To make it look like a factory install, or even remotely clean, you will want to make a custom fiberglass surround... build it out so the radio sits square, continue the shape where the air con controls are,,, put some time and sculpting into it and the result should be quite good....

I put this GME uhf into my vc: TX3420 GME 477MHz UHF Radio 5 Watt 40 Channel - eBay CB Radios, CB Radio, Radio Equipment, Electronics. (end time 13-Dec-09 20:03:23 AEDST)
I mounted the face/ front piece to the underside of the dash surround and put the main part in the top of the dash where the single speaker for the old am radio used to go. I can put a up a picture if you like, just PM me.
    Four commodores and counting.

The GME unit's with detachable face is the best way to go about it.

As for a Double DIN, even with extensive mods to the surrounds, its going to hit on the heater core (iI think thats what it is), its a kent of a job to get a single one to fit, let alone line up neatly, I wouldnt bother with a Double DIN one, unless you just leave it in the box in the boot.

Get a GME TX3440. LCD and buttons are actually on the microphone. The main unit is then mounted under the seat. Sexy as. Also check out the Kenwood KVT-636DVD. Single din navigation unit. Save screwing around fibre glassing.

I could do that with the CB., that sounds good

With the double din i want one showing there in the full, not a small flip out one

Just pointed it out so that you don't have to go to all the labour and cost of modifying to suit. In the end it's your decision.

    ok... i think im decided.

My uncle picked me up some aluminum checker plate so that is going where the gauges are, where the AC/stereo and where the lights/intermittent wipers bit so that should be quite easy to install...
